  • DM Tool: Level Cap Adjustment

I really wish there were a DM tool that would allow you to finely adjust someone's level cap. I never thought it to be a useful tool until I had to have my character entirely remade due to a change made to a PrC class, setting my cap of 14-15 to 12.

    It sucks being re-restricted again.

The cap system does not function the way it looks like it should. It looks like its supposed to set your cap to 12 or 16, but it absolutely does not. What is actually does, is set your time played to 4 days, or 10 days and all the cap increases that come with that (4 increases, and 8 increases, respectfully). I am not sure if this was the original intent, or a change that occurred from times past when the cap limit was lower.

We do not remake nor relvl characters normally. Your character was 'grandfathered' in as an old (returning) character and that is really the only reason we allowed it. I'd rather see our developers stay focused on other aspects of the game as your situation was somewhat rare and your request was one we could of denied.

From the point of view of an ex-DM, I'd say this tool would be very useful. Not for me anymore but for the current DMs I'd say it would come in handy.

I can agree that it's typically rare, but these situations do arise, and having more tools opposed to fewer to accommodate the players is a good thing. My situation and method of fixing my character could have been denied, but I don't believe this is synonymous with should have been denied. It may not - should not - take the highest priority, and I can understand why, but I still stick with Murphy's law; anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Having the tools to handle these situations when they go wrong are great things indeed.

True enough. I suppose it would depend on the view points of the developers with Saulus having the final word on it? I do like having more tools to confuse myself with.

DMs can bypass the level cap already (indirectly).

This question seems to pertain to my character also, although he was not remade. He is level 16, was level 16 before these caps, and when I came back to the server a couple months ago, he was set to level 13.

Is there a way to lift this or at least have him at his current level?
