  • Faction Realignment/Deletion/Merging/Overhaul

I'm going to offer my pocket change on the matter and I would appreciate if everyone else did as well.

I'll list off each faction and give a short explanation as to what I think should be done.

Please correct any Information I have wrong...

    The Legion: No change needed

    Triad: No Change

Black Hand: Have no freakin idea

Cartel: Smugglers should be separate, I understand that a lot of the factions were merged together to streamline things, but a guild of smugglers wouldn’t be interested in working for one exclusive client
    OR
Remove the smuggler sub faction altogether as it really doesn’t serve much of a purpose in the Sundren storyline

CdG: The CdG formation was a vigilantly group to stop the lizards...it has pretty much served its purpose...either the legion should reassert control or the CdG should split Sestra off in rebellion
(As Cirion was once working toward, it'd make an interesting set of events)

Veritas: The Rebellion really should be expanded (say Sestra?) or crushed (removed as a joinable faction) as it doesn’t have a strong player base and is no longer (ever was?) a focus of the Sundren storyline

The Hands: This is two different groups and should be divided as such (add the towers for god's sake) the differences should be emphasized more or they should come to an agreement and merge (then nothing will have to be changed :P)

(Necromancer Faction is already dead) There really should be something for Evil Char's that do not want to be in the Hands(and aren’t rogues)

The Druid Glade/Grove: This faction definitely needs to be split, it is lumping Druidic orders that are almost Kill On Sight with each other, and I know it was added so Druids and Rangers would have a faction but...

The Enclave: The enclave has the best faction HQ, and as far as I know the lowest player base...either it should not be joinable or members of the faction should have access to the thayan classes instead of them being restricted, if there is meant to be a strong Thayan presence in Sundren then there should be a strong player presence in the enclave

    Blackwood: no change

    Exigo: No Change

You could always start your own faction/guild!

Expand! Don't remove! I would <3 to the Veritas Rebels become important and feared (again).

If you want a necromancer and a current faction, you could easily join the Mykrullites who are a NE subfaction of the Black Hand.

Gromlin is a very active rebel and a wanted criminal. I'm sure he'd love some friends. I know I plan to give him some support here (hopefully) very shortly.

The only faction I'm kind of confused about is the Red Blades. I don't think it should be removed at all, but I wish someone would clarify what its purpose is other than studying military tactics and devotion to sword-wielding. More importantly, how are they are currently connected to the Sundarian Legion? It seems like the Red Blades was more significant historically but as certain threats abated and the Legion became strong enough, it has become a fencing club. I don't know. Maybe I'm just baffled about it.

Most of the factions are going to stay the way they are... we consolidated them for simplicities sake. It's almost impossible to give each faction an equal treatment and make sure the players in each is even, it changes as time passes. I can tell you the druid faction has already got more attention than it deserves (yes it's true).

It has more subfactions than anyone gives a shit about and even I don't know their individual purposes but I was the one to enter in all their ranks. If anything I would remove druid factions and make it just 1 to cut down on the ridiculousness.

As for the Hands of Mundus again, making them into two factions is just not going to happen, it's a lot of extra work for no real reason. The Hands of Mundus is the Hands of Mundus, you're in the faction you're in, RP can hammer out the details of left and right hand.

Also the Red Blades were supposed to be the heavy hand of the Sundren Legion, kind of like the special forces of the group, they fight alongside Legion soldiers where needed. They have a lot of lore and history and I originally planned to do a lot more with them but DMs didn't seem to want to touch them and I didn't have the time.

It's very difficult to support so many factions which is why we have the setup we have now: for simplicty.

CDG is an exception because they really don't exist as a faction until we rolled them in as a subfaction. I don't know what they really do anymore but I rather leave it for now than worry about it.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Fair enough that addresses most of it, What about making the Thayan Classes more easily accessable? Considering they are supposed to be a major political force in Sundren, they have the best faction HQ by far, and a red wizard isn't all that OP, Why are they restricted as much as they are?

Actually I like the Cartel the way it is. The problem with the Black Tax is the Eboncoin is the majority of the problem in my faction. Since we are shooting straight.

Red Wizards can't and won't be automatic faction access. Maybe for Thayan Knights but not for Red Wizards. I have been fairly lax in my acceptance for new thayan faction members and in fact have even offered good RPers to make them.

Zero real offers so far. No one is actually sitting down and playing one as their main, they have 20 alts and one might be a RW.

Well...Ursus was the one I played forever as a main. My only level 20 toon on Sundren. But it gets a bit boring standing at the top of the stairs looking all ominous when only a small handful or characters will even speak with you and nothing ever happens that you would actually fit in with.

I see the Thayans as more of an NPC faction as is. A couple DMs use Red Wizards to hand out jobs or info or to show up to break the monotony at the second wind. But that's about it lately.

I really don't have a problem with how the factions are set up, to tell the truth. Seems at least somewhat logical (except the druids...got no idea about them guys) and as easy to keep straight as possible. There is at least one character in any given faction on at almost any time.

I have one simple Blackwood suggestion that requires ZERO scripting and such. Could the wiki page be updated so it's not blank?... If a staffer tells me what to add I'll make it myself, but as of right now it's blank and I'm unsure as to what is really public info.

And as a side note, I was the person to add them to the wiki in the first place

EDIT: I know none of the staff wants to deal with making a new faction or something, but I have a suggestion for the druids. Remove the Wrath of Nature from the main druid faction and instead make another main faction for them mixed with the barbarian tribe in the spine. Or just merge wrath of nature into the wardens... that works too (Even though they'll be killing eachother...).
                        My to-be toon:
                        Shafiq Al-Mawt: Zakharan myrkulite.

                        My tomb of old toons:
Cruven Schlachten - Blood Reaver of Garagos, Blackwood Company Elite, Hellstrom Head of Security
Marcus Waynard- Horned Harbinger, fear his best bud Frank!... and Jim, Bob, Sue, and Jane...
Davlamin Frostfoot - Frosty Snowflake, the Frozen Fist of Auril, sworn enemy of the Second Wind fire pit.

Step 1: Visit a barber to do your 'coiffure'
Step 2: Get yourself a 'servant'
Step 3: Buy 'respect' from the Thayans (and god forbid, never enter their Enclave in red)
Step 4: Get involved up to your neck in political schemes as a proponent of Thayan 'ideals'

Actually the issue Yev is some folks decided that the Black tax was simply a gank others for fun guild. We the coin decided certain things needed to be played out to preserve player enjoyment of the game and situation as best as possible.

Recent chapters have now been closed and I for one am working to move forward. If you have issues or suggestions for the Tax please discuss them in private with myself and other coin members.

My suggestions would only be try involving others who are in the faction, instead of trying to hijack it.
