An outdoor area that operates like our dungeons do. Multi-leveled, with bosses, with an emphasis on making use of athletic skills like jump, balance, and climb, and guerrilla-type enemies that abuse HiPS, making those PCs with spot and listen scores useful for more than spotting Logan. I imagine it as a higher-level extension of the Viridale.

Sounds awesome actually.
HiPS abusing arboreal bears with high jump rating and climb skill please. Make them pack hunters while you're at it. Like Australian drop bears on steroids.
Unstoppable rampaging moose with supreme power attack and deathless frenzy.
"Wow the natural ecology here hasn't been entriely replaced by gnolls, ogres, or orcs... I wonder why that is." - Famed explorers last words before setting out into an unmarked region of wood.
Seriously wild life in sundren isn't given the credit it's due.

Outdoor areas take a lot of server memory (which contributes to the overall limit). Things like jump, balance and climb are always things we like to try to integrate where possible (like we did with swimming)... But don't expect to see a lot of multi-levelled outdoor dungeons because of the sizing limitations.
We could probably have 2 or 3 multi-level interior dungeons for the equivalent resource usage of an outdoor one.
HiPs more effectively used is something I'd like, but part of the issue with that is the current AI is fairly limited, so it would likely only be bosses using features like that otherwise the server would lag processing all the NPC combatants with sophisticated routines. The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

That makes sense. Perhaps something that meets in the middle would be a good compromise ~ A lush subteranian region perhaps, with oozes and abberations maybe... and no, not the underdark -.-Originally posted by Saulus View PostOutdoor areas take a lot of server memory (which contributes to the overall limit). And Favored Souls wouldn't exist.
