Would it be possible to code it that the gem's are not able to say "Cursed" unless they are infact scanned for such things? Gromlin sold some earlier to a player rping he didnt know the difference , but it would make things easier if in reality he didnt know it was cursed.

wasnt sure if its possible of keeping the item like it hasnt been identified yet, but not showing other then the normal color, not greenish blue. That way instead of saying unidentified, it would just say Diamond.
