  • More fighter-type PRCs?

Alright with the whole thread about the caster vs. melee going on I thought I'd make this suggestion. And I've no idea how hard it is to make a PRC so I understand if there's no time to spend to make new ones ... butttttt.....

In my opinion one of the reasons why everyone plays a caster class is because there's many more PRCs based on casters and it's more interesting to play fun PRC's, and lets face it, many of the caster classes far overpower the fighter types with just the bonuses they get, not even the spells. Below i made a list separating all the PRCs by the 3 base types: casting, fighter, and sneak.
    Fighter types
    Duelist
    Dwarven Defender
    Frenzied Berserker
    Weapon Master
    Thayan Knight
    Blackguard
    Divine Champion

    Sneaks

    Assassin
    Dark Hunter
    Darkwood Stalker
    Duelist
    Invisible Blade
    Shadowdancer
    Shadow Thief of Amn

    Casters

    Arcane Scholar of Candlekeep
    Arcane Archer
    Arcane Trickster
    Combat Medic
    Eldritch Knight
    Mage Killer
    Master of Radiance
    Master of Shrouds
    Mystic Theurge
    Palemaster
    Sacred Fist
    Shadowbane Stalker
    Warpriest
    Ice Fury of Auril
    Stormlord of Talos
    Triadic Knight
    Doomguide
    Dragon Disciple
    Dreadmaster of Bane
    Heartwarder
    Horned Harbinger
    Master of Many Forms
    Nature's Warrior
    Red Wizard of Thay
Now if you look at the list, there are far more PRC's that require casting in order to get them. What I suggest is making more interesting PRC's for fighter types cause the only custom fighter type is Thayan knight.
I spent time looking around and two classes that I found that didn't look too overpowered or exactly like another were these two:

Champion of Gwynharwyf (I've got no idea what Gwynharwyf is but it looked interesting):
    http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wik..._of_Gwynharwyf
    http://therafim.wikidot.com/champion-of-gwynharwyf

    Dervish: http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Dervish
    My to-be toon:
    Shafiq Al-Mawt: Zakharan myrkulite.

    My tomb of old toons:
Cruven Schlachten - Blood Reaver of Garagos, Blackwood Company Elite, Hellstrom Head of Security
Marcus Waynard- Horned Harbinger, fear his best bud Frank!... and Jim, Bob, Sue, and Jane...
Davlamin Frostfoot - Frosty Snowflake, the Frozen Fist of Auril, sworn enemy of the Second Wind fire pit.

Gwyharwyf, "The Whirling Fury", is an eladrin of high stature whom is a patron to barbarians (a model of how rage and righteousness can exist in a single being). She's a consort to Queen Morwel, the ruler of the Court of the Stars, and effectively the one whom lead the eladrin in their fight against evil outsiders.

The Champion of Gwynharwyf is a PrC found in the Book of Exalted Deeds (hence the obscure feat requirement).

The dervish is actually - in general flavor - very resemblant to the Champion of Gwynharwyf... except that it has no ties to the celestial patron and rather a strong gypsie/scimitar-wielding desert warrior theme.

Unfortunately, both are not strongly displayed aspect in the Sundren persistent world, making their inclusion a very doubtful proposition considering the staff's strong stance over making any future PrC addition Sundren thematic.

Hearing Sundren thematic makes me hear evil restricted PrCs.
But srsly, I don't see why any kind of PrC that isn't region specific couldn't be added. It would all make more sense than Samurai *cough cough*.

What about the Avenger ? The Bear Warrior ? Finding "general" melee PrCs is as easy as opening Complete Warrior and picking a page at random, and it would allow for more diversity. But from previous replies from Saulus customization isn't one of Sundren's goal. Don't think we'll be seeing any new PrCs before forever.

Oooo! Brainstorming! Alright, I'll toss out a few ideas:

        1. A leader-type PRC. This guy spends his time learning to lead from the front lines. He can rally his troops and cow his enemies with his awesome, majestic power (and orcness *cough*). Would be able to activate different "auras" that bolster friends and demoralize enemies. Think a bard, but with full BAB and no spells or wimpy singing. Maybe he could start with an aura that gets stronger as he progresses. For example, at first level he has a persistent aura that gives allies +1 to hit, then when he hits lvl 3, his enemies take a -1 to hit, ect.

        2. Magehunter! This is probably just a kneejerk from reading the caster v/ melee thread, but a PRC that focuses solely on hunting and killing magic-users. Maybe get some SR, dispels, self-haste/teleportation (short-range). Would make for some *fun* RP. To counterbalance, maybe make it so he is unable to be buffed by others, or use magic items. I imagine that would be really, really hard to do, though. Maybe make it so that he can't receive *any* buffs that come from an item/another person. That'd be sweet.

        3. Supertankguy! Think DD, but more universal and less devoted to a cause so much as just being redonkulously tough. DR, high HP, high saves, but nothing else.

        4. Ragetastic! Something for pure barbarians (lolwut?). The ragetastic would get more bonuses when raging, from immunity to mind-affecting spells to increasing in size for more damage/better knockdowns. Suffers a chance (say 10%) to go completely batshit insane and get confused, attacking anything standing near him. Would require extra/extend rage feats, and would only stack with barb rage.

        5. Superfast! This warrior is a badass because he is superfast. Can do neat things like self-haste, gets bonuses to movement speed, short teleportations.

        6. Superstrong! This guy loves big weapons, *really* big weapons. Focuses on using two-handers, and gets bonuses to attack and defense when using them.

        7. Judomaster! This warrior has figured out the best way to take out an enemy is to get real close and give 'em a sweaty man-hug. Then throw them on their head and choke the hell out of them. Maybe stab them a couple of times for good measure. He focuses on the (sadly) underused grapple feat, gaining bonuses to succeed on grapple/pin checks. When he succeeds on the initial grapple check, he does damage that scales with PRC levels. He is so pro at playing a heavy topgame that he can wear out an enemy with little effort (does dmg/round in addition to any normal attacks)

I'm spent. These were just thrown out there, with some inspiration from the DnD wiki. I haven't really considered scripting/balance issues. I'm also a little drunk, so take everything above with a grain of salt.

Personally, if we were going to add new prestige classes, I'd love to see a completely custom prestige class for each faction on the server. =)

Imagine: Legionnaire, Red Blade, Warden of the Vale, and others as actual prestige classes. That would extremely awesome, and add a huge amount of flavor to the server.

Of course, actually creating such classes for the server is beyond my skill, and I am not sure the development side of the staff has the time or inclination to implement such things. Just some wishful thinking.

The blackwood PrC is just regular fighter, but five levels in you get 50 ranks of Use Rope.

Also: Bear warrior! Bear warrior! Bear warrior! Yes!

It may not be widely known, but the Natural Leader feat on Sundren actually does this, in a 10 foot radius.

I don't want to pop the bubble but ... a PrC for each Faction wouldn't be that great. Considering all the different types of characters, you can't expect a PrC to fit a barbarian just as it will fit a rogue or a wizard. You'd need several PrCs for each Faction. So that would be like, what, 20 PrCs at least ?

Nah, generic PrC's can be made. Conversely, the PrC would more closely match what the faction most represents. For example, a Blackwood PrC would be a fighter base, a warden a druid/Spirit shaman base, etc. Legion might have a few, like a Legionnaire fighter, a Clinicus PrC, and a Scholii PrC or something. The prestige classes could also be short and sweet 5 level affairs. Something to add a bit of flavor to the server and its factions, and most definitely only available to characters in said faction.

With MadSeer, but Philosoraptors comeback sounds good.

The PrC's with intent to be used by those factions, but available for others sounds good. That way we can have our Legionnaire generals having appropriate abilities, but also allow the orc horde leaders to rally their troops as well.
