  • Necropolis - Risk vs. Reward

From what I can tell, the Lower Graveyard and Upper Graveyard contain no kind of loot container anywhere. The enemies themselves are fairly sparse on the drops, too, and I for one am spending more in healing supplies than I get back from killing the mobsters.

Would it be unfair to drop a few things containing shiny things, or up the drops on the skeletons slightly?

I don't think the Necropolis was ever actually 'finished.' I think there's a ton of really awesome maps to it that either can't be accessed or don't have spawns. The ones that are in there now are kind of placeholder encounters until it can be gone over.

      Ah, that'd explain things.

The skeletons seem like decent XP whilst representing a fair challenge that requires specialist equipment (magic bludgeoning, I think)

The Bog Zombies seem pretty tough, but they're slow moving, so kiting is always an option.

The Skeletons are a bit weak in my view, and the bog zombies are to strong. You spend more time smacking down the bog zombies and get less xp for them than the quick expedient removal of Skeletons. Farther in, the critters get harder FAST once you clear the level after the puzzle (which I think is wonderful by the way, I wish there were more ).

Also it is a faction area. So running into stiff resistance by the Black Hand is a possibility.

Zombies are the reason you bring any ranged attacker with you. In melee they're tough and the reward dosen't match the risk, but if you play to their weakness (slow speed) you can fell them without even taking a hit.

Clerics will find the skeletons extremely easy (but then, clerics find any enemy up to 10 CR above them easy) but normal classes seem to find them fairly good in terms of challenge. You have to have specialty gear or a large chunk of your damage will be knocked down.

That said, increasing the AB and damage of the skeletons a little couldn't hurt. The barbarian-style Skeletal Ravagers seem to only hit for about 1d12+6, which isn't much for a mob that gives 30 XP at level 10.

The archers seem to have a suprising amount of power in contrast, and seem to hit around 15's sometimes.

The update's certainly toughened things up a lot. Ironically this makes it another area that pretty much requires to have or be a Cleric...

The puzzle is really, really cool. None of our party knew about it, and we really had a fun time figuring it out, involving lots of spawned tomb dead.

Everything has been re-tweaked once more since last night... things should be a bit different again.
