  • Guild Forum Access

    Hello!

Back in 11/08 PL had informed me that there was a server policy in place that restricted players access to ~one~ guild forum, despite how many guilds they belong to, or how many characters they have active in various guilds. It was explained to me that this was an effort to cut down the amount of ig Meta by limiting player accessible information... I'd like to find out if this is still the case..

IMHO I don't agree with the logic behind the rule. The reason is that if you are permitted to belong to more than one guild you are going to have access in game to much if not all of the information ava. on the forum via RP and players, so denying access to guilds one is active in isn't going to prevent them from learning information that is ig regardless.. What it seems to do more effectively, is limit a player's ability to be an active participant in the various guilds they are members of by limiting their access to information regarding guild meetings/events, RP that is forum specific, etc..

If it is still a forum rule, I would ask that this be revisited and reconsidered, as I honestly think there are many people who can have much to offer to the rp quality of their guilds, if access is limited to members, but not limited to one per person.. It's very difficult being a guild member and belonging to a guild who's forum you are denied access to..

    Appreciate the reconsideration,
    Rachelle

I personally agree. Anyone showing suggestions of metagaming should be forced to pick one guild to go to, but I know that many people would be able to keep IC knowledge IC.

It's still a rule, and it's not going to be reconsidered. One main faction, one faction forum.

No exceptions. Trying to police the rest is just too much overhead.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Whatever your main is, take your primary faction with them! It not only prevents metagaming, but encourages people to focus on their primary PC.

              We're all doomed.

And to add to the response to the OP - even if you do not ~mean~ to metagame, it can get very difficult with more than one PC to separate what one knows from what the other does, and separate THAT from what you, the player knows. It's helpful, then, if you do not also have to separate a ton of faction forums. The less info you have to keep straight, the better.

I concur on both points as someone that has conflicting PC's (a Whacky Black Hand, and an AA... and not to mention the secret society not to be named).

If you have more than a couple PC's it gets hard to remember what one knows, and the other knows, and to keep them separate, especially if you have to take time away from playing.

I generally like this rule, because i have seen on past servers people make alts that join opposing factions just so they have access to the forum and know what everyone is doing. Then they find a weak spot in something they are planning and take defensive measures against it with their main.

It's a sad day when your enemy knows what your doing before you do it because, some people don't know any better, or are just too curious for their own good.
