  • Spells on events

This has just been floating around my head for a few days, but I was curious to see what the community and the DM's thought as a whole on it. I always enjoy looking through the complete PnP spell list, thinking to myself how cool it would be if we could implement half of the spells that do everything from telekinesis to making a rest shelter inside another pocket plane.

And while I fully realize that most of these will not ever get coded due to the sheer difficulty, I thought perhaps it would be nice if we could still use them in some fashion during DM events. My reasoning would be thus: if at the beginning of an event, or an interaction with a DM controlled NPC, any spellcasting character (druids, rangers, paladins, etc.) would be able to designate a few spells as PnP spells that they can cast during the event. So a mage can for instance empty a cantrip spell slot in his book in order to cast prestidigitation as one of his three chosen spells for the event. I think it'd add a lot of spice to events as a whole, and it would be a temporary idea to a longer term solution to flesh out the spell list for each class as much as possible.

Granted, sorcerer's and favored souls would probably be left out (being lame naturalists as they are), but I would like to hear any feedback!

    Thanks for reading.

I would just be happy with some illusions. Maybe have the spell create a creature with all of the druid wildshapes or something, and it can't do any damage. It's only use would be in roleplay, but it would be a lot of fun, I think.

I also like the above idea.

Wizards and Clerics should inform a DM at the start of the event if they want to memorize any PNP spells that aren't in NWN2. The DM can decide if they'll allow it -- they usually say yes, but it's up to the individual.

Yeah, I'd be up for that, to a point. You would need to tell me in advance so I can decide before anything were attempted. I've got a Player's Handbook so it shouldn't be too difficult for me. =)

Yeah, I think that'd be one of the limited ones =P

Besides, it costs 5,00xp per casting. So the DM's would be perfectly in their rights to take away your xp!

I figured as much, PL. I just thought it would be good to have it clarified, and perhaps brought to the attention of the community as a whole that it is an option when participating in an event.
