  • door exploit?

    Hey, I've noticed that in a few of the caves/mines around, there are doors that can't be opened by the monsters living there. I don't know if the problem is the doors, or the monsters, but it doesnt seem right that creatures can't get from one room to the next within their own lairs. Obviously, this applies more to goblins/ogres than mindless undead.

    what I see alot of is people openning a door, letting one monster through, then closing it / letting it close, while the rest of the monsters are helpless to aid their buddy. it doesnt seem right, and smacks of exploit.

    maybe the properties on the monsters/doors could be changed, or the doors removed entirely.

    I know the goblins can open doors, which dungeons have the problem?

      i don't think the spittle-fist can, i'll have to double-check.
      the ogres definitely can't.

        The reason the doors were there was to stop people at one point in farming (The spittle cave mostly), if i remember correctly. Depending on the monster type, i could understand such. The zombies in Arglye cant open the crype doors (inside), nor would i expect them too... however the caster inside should be able. Seeing their smart enough for spells, they should be smart enough to open doors.

          I've been guilty myself of dragging monsters within narrow passages and dot'ing the ones behind (Inferno springs to mind).

          Its a desperately effective tactic, but im still sure not more than one ogre can fit through a doorway. The size circle beneath them gives it away... ogres have to be between large and huge!

            We were aware of this problem. I think there was a fix for it in the new On Blocked script, but maybe it's still not in. We do agree it needs to be changed -- or the doors removed

              I ... don't think removing doors entirely is a good idea... since some monters really can't open doors... but the ones who can should be able to...

                Goblins can open doors, it's just that the doors in the Goblin caves tend to close themselves just a few seconds after opening.

                Stonegarb Ogres can open doors, but it seems like the same can't be said for Stonegarb Berserkers. Still, they can barely fit through the door anyway (and Berserkers definitely can't, if you just consider their size).
