  • Fruit Collecting

What about usuable objects in forested environments that yeild fruit? Like how trees yeild lumber, what about bushes that yeild blueberries or cranberries? Dirt patches that yeild carrots? Etc. You could make the Skill checks use the survival skill. Perhaps the higher your survival skill check, the more fruit is gained.

I just thought it might be nifty to have berry bushes in the Viridale.

And it enables small amount resource collecting, primarily in the form of dye recipes.

    Just a thought! =)

Whose graven runes in tomes of dread have taught/ What things beyond the star gulfs lurk and leer.
Dark Lord of Averoigne- whose windows stare/ On pits of dream no other gaze could bare!"

Yeah it did cross my mind, never got around to doing it though. However, I was thinking more of Knowledge: Nature than survival, for recognising the stuff as practical/edible.
Should be pretty simple to do..

Be honest.. survival already does have its uses. Knowledge: Nature does little beyond the rare occasion a DM asks for it

I think it would be a lot of work on the Devs' part to implement, but such a feature would hopefully alleviate the need for high level characters to grind low level areas for crafting ingredients. As an alchemist, I can tell you it gets really, really annoying when you can't find a friggin' lemon.

                  For lemons, grind goblins.
For other fruits, I think the Corps de Grace are open.

I know where an unlimited amount of lemons can be found and without any danger at all. Maybe I should sell them to people, or sell the knowledge of their location.

What is fruit being used for if I might ask? Or is this simply an RP matter?

They're used for making dyes, but a lot of people use them for RP props. When cooking is finished, I'm sure they'll be used for those recipes as well.
EDIT: Found the lemons. Thanks for the heads up.

Is it possible to make dyes from a lemon? I suggest you add sugar, ice and cachaca to make a caipirinha instead.

I have no idea. But then again, this is D&D, and we've got people magical essences from bat wings. I think it follows that making dyes from lemons is an easy task for an alchemist. Also, the Devs have pretty much determined that if a particular fruit or plant is, say, orange, then you can make orange dyes from it. Exempli gratia: Carrots.
