  • Shadow Weave ?

If this has been talked about, i do apologize, I don't feel like looking through more than a page of posts. Hit me with a stick if it make you feel better>

My spectacular suggestion is to implement the Shadow Weave for followers of Shar.
I know you can (and I have) simulate it by only using spell of the shadow/dark type and style, I just feel dirty getting my spell from Mystra.

You know how complex that would be to script and still not even get perfect?! Just RP you're casting from the shadow weave. And Shadow Weave casters don't just cast dark spells.

No they dont but if you feel better casting dark spells Sundren has tons of custom ones that I 'think' have either dark or evil desciptors.

Darkbolt, Call Nightmare, and Wrathfull Castigation are a few I can mention; obviously shadow conjuration is a good NWN2 spell that most casters can use!

I think what GBX is trying to say is that while it would be awesome to have a Shadow Weave implemented, it isn't particularly feasible with all the other things the staff have to do. In essence, the two are the same with some differences.

For instance, Enchantment, Illusion, and Necromancy spells are enhanced while Evocation and Transmutation are impaired. Same thing with spells with Darkness and Light in their description. Also, it is far more difficult for a regular Weave mage to detect and counter Shadow Weave spells (and vice versa).

I think that if you wanted to create a character like this, you would take spell focus on certain spell schools listed above, and perhaps Spell Girding. I suppose that it would be possible to create a feat that makes you lose a DC in one spell school while gaining on in another, or something of the sort to simulate it further, but that's really up to the developers.
        Characters:
Peridan Twilight, one-eyed dog of the Legion, deceased.
Daniel Nobody, adventurer and part time problem solver.

        [DM] Poltergeist :
If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge an intermediate deity's unbridled fury.

I have absolutely no experience with building/scripting or anything else, i was just going by the fact that I had seen this on NWN1 but have yet to see it on NWN2. Since I don't have the desire to learn it myself, i'm taking your word for it GB

Geuss I'll just have to go back to pretending...

(and yeah, i probably should not have used "only" in my original post)
