  • Shadowdancer drought at 1st level.

Just a suggestion, not that it would change the dynamics of the class a lot.

2 possibilities, since they get nothing at 1st level except a pat on the back .

    1) Maybe move Darkvision to first level.
    2) Maybe give them Dimension door in indoor or night 1/day (to simulate shadow jump thing)

    Thanks.

I'd actually like both of these to be implemented, the DD ability at a level after 4 to reward people for taking the class other than for HiPS.

Heck, I'd say don't make it just work indoors or at night. Let them RP it. If people abuse it, people will know not to RP with them anyway. I'd say just give them Dimension Door, simple, so that way it's not too much coding for the Devs to work it in that it only works under certain circumstances.

Because I entirely agree. SD is a weird PrC, basically everyone takes it just for HiPS, and that's it. DD could give a huge advantage to leveling further in it. Especially for those types of rogues that want a quick getaway.

Took the words from my mouth, I agree totally, I think more useful skills could be added too to help create more of a goal to hit a high SD level.

Something simple to give at level 1: maybe + to hide at night time?

Yeah shadowjump is fourth and hide in plain sight is 1st level. Could you not just switch them to make HiPs fourth (which it is) and shadowjump at 1st. perfectly balanced I believe!

I'd have to disagree, personally. But this might just be me. Shadowjump/Dimension Door should be placed higher up, so there's more initiative and motivation to go further in the class. Otherwise everyone will still just use it for a 4 level PrC.

Instead, maybe do what Phantom Suggested. A small +2 Hide bonus at night, or something. Maybe move Darkvision to level 1 as well. Level 4 is HiPS.

And then stick Shadowjump/Dimension Door at around level 8, so people don't just drop the PrC at level 4 like the vast majority of time.

I recommend against any further stealth-enhancing skill boosts. This game has many more ways to enhance stealth-related skills than it has to enhance detection-related skills. Pouring even more on the class that gets the most mileage out of the skill makes it seem very counter-productive to me when they already have access to taking so many other bonuses.

Class feature swapping is fine and all. At least it doesn't make the class actually stronger than it was in the end. Doing more than that feels unwise to me, though. I'd give a thumbs up to the idea put up in the opening post of this thread.
