  • Suggestion: +2 tier magical items in Sundren City

I think some of us have been secretly hoping that the Sundren City update would include magical items of the range level 8 to 10 characters could benefit from as in, namely, +2 magical arms, ammunition and armor and +2 stat enhancing items other than the Gauntlets of Ogre Power.

But there's none! It's just more of the same thing - except for special materials like darksteel and adamantite...

I can understand the why of it, but it does make the fuzzy glow and excitement tied to the addition of the Sundren city and tied to any possible shopping spree, well, somewhat mitigated.

Still early, maybe the shops aren't fully stocked yet... maybe in time. I'm a low-mid magic guy generally, but a few +2 items in a large city makes sense.

However, it could be that the idea is to not have any shops sell them, and only make things higher than +1 available only from DM events and extremely rare drops.

I'm with Ithidur on this. I would rather not see a boat load of +2 items for sale, but have them as DM awards, etc. Also, I would rather not see anything above +3 in game, which the exception of items supplied for a DM event that are lost after the event ends. All high power items do is lead to the evil infinite loop of high power items to find ever higher powered creatures that were never meant to be high level in the first place.

I don't mind a few, small selection of +2 items in the big city; the problem with any +2 stuff exclusively being available from DMs is that, well, only the players that see DMs get them. If you play in the wrong timezone, you may have to wait much much longer or just be out of luck.

I just realized... hmm... someone here already has a commishioned suit of armor that's equivalent to a +3, so... heh, you can afford to be a bit patient maybe.

You won't be able to buy +2 items. This has nothing to do with us not properly stocking stores, it's a design choice. Items of that power or greater are going to be harder to come by, either spawning in boss drops or coming through high level quests.

Psht. Who needs +2 when you've got +1 Positive Energy, +1 to Hit and +1 Dexterity? Keep doing what you're doing and eventually someone will throw you a bone .

Scarlett, I wouldn't worry too much. Sundren DMs don't strike me as stingy; keep up the RP, when your PC is near an appropriate lvl I'm sure she'll have +2 things.

On every server I've been playing on this far, it's always ened up with alot of people running around with weapons that have ?ber enchantments and glows and effects added to them...
I dreamt, and still dream about a server which is low magic, where even +1 can be hard to obtain.
I'd say that we shouldn't add any more enchanted weapons to the game but I'll double what people said before, let stronger than +1 be DM rewards for specific character quests or rewards for killing a hard party boss or something like that.
I have a +1 question brewing in this skull somewhere...

I'm sure it is planned, but if there is only to be +1 items and such in the cities it would be nifty if each shop had a different look to the armor. Would give some nice diversity some characters.

Creating more different types of gear and clothing is part of what we're going to be working on from now on.

It may be a different matter but... what about the crafting skills and feats?
Will it be possible for casters with the proper feats to create weapons, armour or wondrous items?

As mentioned before we will be expanding upon the campaign's crafting system at a later date.
