Considering Paladin and Ranger Caster Level

If people were going pure pally I'd be more inclined to say "Hey, have full spell progression, you guys need it."

But when you mix it with other PrCs, you start to get an idea of why it's not so good to toss in there.

I don't. Paladins have a unique spell book, and new spell level progression wouldn't change. All you'd be adjusting is the effective caster level. You'd still have to take 4 levels of paladin to qualify for level 1 spells and so on, it's just you'd count as a 4th level caster at level 4.

I'm more likely to do something like give bonus feats where the paladin can select from divine abilities, and then that'd free up their standard feats for other selections. I don't know, lots of ideas.
