I was referencing the lack of armor that a dex fighter would ware. Having your Dex bonus removed by a gob sneak attack is silly. It is not about fighting with two weapons (though nice) it is about using your dex skills in adverse conditions (like uncanny doge would grant). To me I'm thinking about taking some other class just for the right feats that would make sense for a dex fighter. Though I do not like the idea of taking barbarian levels for just uncanny doge and moment. The "rage" skill (?) does not fit a dex fighter.

Elandra: A former Red Blade, now roams the wilderness with the Lone wolf as her guide
Alexandra: Ever faithful (just shy of a Zealot)
Yodglum: May Kossuth's flame light your way and burn those in it!
Ash: Dusty old miner of still looking for the "mother load" on Exigo's stag
Shaving kittens: not an official sport, but fun just the same

As for holding their own if you beef dex to get two weapon fighting you are not much left with much for other abilities to make them effective in any other class. I guess you could if you left str/con to the min... might as well be a rouge then! Rouges are cool do not get me wrong there it is just not what I envision as a dex fighter.
I would be open to taking feat hits for getting the ones that would fit, such as uncanny doge costing 2 feats. And no I'm not stuck on uncanny doge; dodge, weapon finesse, etc. are all doable as a fighter now.Elandra: A former Red Blade, now roams the wilderness with the Lone wolf as her guide

PRESTIGE CLASS: This class is not available at character creation and must be unlocked by meeting special requirements, listed below. This class has 5 levels.
A tempest is the point of calm within a whirling barrier of deadly blades. Poets use colorful terms such as "dancing" to describe the movement of a tempest and her two blades, but mastery of this fighting style is not about dancing, nor is it about impressing anyone - least of all poets. A tempest focuses on learning the secrets of two-weapon fighting for a single purpose: the destruction of her enemies.
Requirements:
Base Attack Bonus: +6
Required Feats: Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack, Improved Two-Weapon Fighting (including Ranger version)
Class Features:
Hit Die: d10
Base Attack Bonus: High.
High Saves: Fortitude.
Weapon Proficiencies: None.
Armor Proficiencies: None.
Skill Points: 2 + Int modifier.
Class Skills: Concentration, Craft Alchemy, Craft Armor, Craft Weapon, Lore, Parry, Sleight of Hand, Taunt, and Tumble.
Class Abilities:
Bonus Feats: At level 3, the Tempest is granted Greater Two-Weapon Fighting. At level 5, the Tempest is granted Whirlwind Attack.
Tempest Defense: When wielding two weapons and wearing light or no armor, the Tempest gains the ability to defend herself with more skill and to seek out the gaps in an opponents defense. At level 1, the tempest gains a +1 Dodge AC bonus. At level 2, the tempest gains a +1 Attack Bonus in addition to the AC bonus. At level 3 the Dodge bonus improves to +2. At level 4 the Attack bonus improves to +2. At level 5, the Dodge bonus improves to +3.
Tempest Whirlwind: The Tempest's skill with two weapons has improved to the point her whirlwind attack is a deadly dance of blades. This is an improved Whirlwind Attack that deals an additional 2d6 slashing damage on each attack made.
If the Tempest was a Ranger, the normal Two-Weapon and Improved Two-Weapon feats are granted at level 1.Elandra: A former Red Blade, now roams the wilderness with the Lone wolf as her guide

Wanted to say thank you to all the told me I was wrong (and provide good examples).
While I'm not 100% in agreement, but you all have given me some ideas on ways to go to make the most of my current dex fighter and any new ones I may make in the future.
PS. I still prefer the Tempest prestige class *wink*Elandra: A former Red Blade, now roams the wilderness with the Lone wolf as her guide

Dur, I just noticed...
The Eldritch Knight requires SIX feats?
And if the poor guy isn't making some sort of armored caster (which he should for he is kinda forced by the requirements), 2/3s of the feats required are useless? And on top of that you lose two caster levels, putting you 1 spell level behind? Not to talk about multiple abilities dependency problems?
I understand it's annoying when every single wizard on the server snatches the class at level 6, but this is really overkill.
Could as well have removed the class all together, if it was so problematic.
I'll keep playing my druid.

Haha... right. You're literally complaining about one of the most powerful class combos on the server even after we nerfed it.Originally posted by Quoth The Raven View PostDur, I just noticed...

Ok. Make an "arcane paladin" thing and it's all right. I understand. But what if I want to make an EK Arcane Archer? Or a Bladesinger-like elf.
Still Spell, Armor Proficiency (Medium), Arcane Armor Proficiency (Medium) are going to be so cool with those chars.
See the problem?
Except that by nerfing it to squish the power players a bunch of other character concepts went down the drain (characters which were hardly overwhelming, by the way: wizard 5/EK 5/Arcane Archer 10 gets what? Level 5 spells, barely? And BAB 17? Wee I totally broke the system). I wanted to express my opinion on a nerf that I believe was maybe necessary, but badly executed.Originally posted by Saulus View PostHaha... right. Nah. I play a paladin-paladin. I've got sympathy for no one but fighter, barbarian, and swashbuckler 20s. EK is jacked up. If it can't be shoehorned into comboing well with the also-very-powerful Arcane Archer, well, shucks.Originally posted by CornutoGlad everyone's being extra fucking ridiculous today.

You do that...Originally posted by Quoth The Raven View PostDur, I just noticed...

The EK class was stupidly powerful and insanely easy for almost EVERY mage to take.
Now it's a specialist class that requires thought and planning.
That said, I'd personally be happy to see it's pre-requisites put back to normal, if, and only if, there is a vault wipe and all spell casting classes are changed to application only with a maximum of 4 per base-type allowed active at any one time (across all timezones).
But, no-one else seems to want that...It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do a little - Do what you can.

I don't mind spending 3 or 4 feats to enter a prestige class, but six? That basically force the EK into a very specific role that not everyone likes, while the original class is nice in that is a great filler to flesh out many different characters?Originally posted by Doubtful View PostYou do that...

The irony of those requirements is that they hamper mostly the less powerful versions of the characters that are interested in the EK.
Ah whatever, it will change nothing anyway. No big deal, forget I wrote anything.

It does screw up builds that don't entirely focus on the armoured caster side of the EK. And frankly the requirements don't make sense. Eldritch Knights primarily combine magic and martial prowesses, not magic and armour.
I don't have anything against boosting the requirement from the original PrC, but change them to something that represents that PrC and that can be applied to about any EK concept; Martial Weapon Proficiency; Weapon Focus in any weapon (or even only in a Martial weapon); Dodge ?; Combat Expertise; Practised Spellcaster ?; maybe remove the Combat Casting feat from the PrC and make it a requirement instead.
That's just a suggestion, but with requirements like the above you can keep the 6 feats requirement while focusing on what the Eldritch Knight is about in the first place, magic & martial. You can as much make a melee EK as you can make a ranged EK; EK/AA; fake Spellblade; etc.Raman Aseph - Runescarred Berserker
