  • New Prestige Class Suggestions...

I would like to make some suggestions for some new Prestige Classes, but I don't know if those from the campaign-books of Sword & Sorcery would be convertable to the Sundren campaign setting... If it is manageble could ya tell me where I could upload the image-scans from the pages about these prestige classes and any other info I would need ?

    Thx, Mavallon

Here r a couple of short examples I had and of which I'd like to upload the descriptions:

The Helliann - an all-female divine or arcane spellcasting PRC, which can only be gained by having an enchanted tattoo and making a pilgrimage to the Witchmount and be accepted as an initiate Helliann.

The High Astrologer - a divine or arcane spellcasting PRC which is dependant and enhanced in his/her casting by the zodiac setting of the moment of casting.

The Jordeh - an elven descendant who has divine spellcasting ability and can speak to plants and woods and who gains certain powers involving the forests

The Lady of Serpents - an evil assassin-like PRC which is all-female and combines the use of poison and some magic, and to become a Lady of Serpents she has to survive a snake bite...

I can upload any info and details y want on them *looks at the developers* um, there r even plenty more I didn't mention...

I'm unsure whether these PrCs are worthwhile for the developers to build in. From what I could understand, one can easily use multiclassing and existing PrCs, core and custom skills and feats plus some creative roleplay to create a similarity of the suggested PrCs.

Well there is a difference between having an PRC and roleplaying there r several feats that r only applicable to the classes I suggested and I don't think for instance ya can roleplay the zodiac influencing yer spells or being a PRC with certain feats which r only applicable to that certain class...

Perhaps a little more technical information is in order. What feats would you really like to see in game that you can't substitute with other feats, skills or creativity?

From a first glance, nothing can stop you from moderating your own spellcasting according to how you think the stars are aligned at any given moment.

A Lady of Serpents could be an Assassin with some extra feats that give you a saving throw versus poison increase.

And if you really need to speak with plants you could ask a friendly neighbourhood DM to help you out in any given case, since they are responsible for representing the world anyways and you probably won't be able to do that without consent of third parties.

Maybe it's just me, but there are many more ways to roleplay any given class than the default and familiar one and the suggested PrCs can just be some of them.

            I agree with DBER..

The Helliann - an all-female divine or arcane spellcasting PRC, which can only be gained by having an enchanted tattoo and making a pilgrimage to the Witchmount and be accepted as an initiate Helliann.
These have no presence in the valley of Sundren as far as I'm aware. Nor do I know if they even have a presence in the Forgotten Realms.

The High Astrologer - a divine or arcane spellcasting PRC which is dependant and enhanced in his/her casting by the zodiac setting of the moment of casting.
Not feasible. Sundren has no Zodiac settings, time is reset after a few in-game days and so this technically won't work. You could always roleplay it, but without tangible advantages.

The Lady of Serpents - an evil assassin-like PRC which is all-female and combines the use of poison and some magic, and to become a Lady of Serpents she has to survive a snake bite...
Nice concept, but the standard assassin is already a mix of stealth, poison and minor magic.

The Jordeh - an elven descendant who has divine spellcasting ability and can speak to plants and woods and who gains certain powers involving the forests
Ask a DM for permission to be able to speak with plants and trees, perhaps with a cleric of Silvanus. Or a similar elven deity. Might have some specific feats to the original PRC.. but I can't imagine it to be a class that's so unique that it fills any holes that are still left. That said, I have a few PRC ideas to fit in eventually, that do have more unique concepts and/or noticeable presence in Sundren. We can't expand the list so much that most classes won't even be used either. That would be work for nothing..

EDIT: But feel free to answer DBER's last inquiries. It might raise some ideas.

Just thought I would throw this in..

I was contemplating a new archer build, but there really aren't many prestige classes to choose from that give benefits to non-elf archers. I don't want to play an elf, and I don't want to be a spell-caster...

Are there any Forgotten Realm PRCs that build on the 'normal' archer? I suppose it would be like a Weapon Master, but with ranged weapons?

I'll do some research myself to see what I can find.. But maybe someone already has an idea.

You could make a pretty good one as a ranger/fighter

Ranger for the archery path, the right class skills and such. Fighter for additional feats like weapon specialization.

That may be true, but I actually think Fighter would be better in the long run; the 3 extra feats from Ranger could easily be accounted for from the 10(?) extra that a fighter gets. Though, Ranger is more fun to RP, imo.

I was hoping for ranged dedicated fighter PRC class - I like the idea of having a heavy archer in full plate. I may have to mix it up a bit.. Perhaps a Cleric/WarPriest with Zen Arcery. *shrugs*

I built a "divine" archer once in NWN1 off of cleric of Solonor, but then again she was an elf and she cast spells. Fighter does make for a good archer though, word.

As for a worshipper of silvanus as specified in 'The Jordeh' there is already the 'Forest Master' PrC which is in Kaeldrins PrC pack.

Personally I would like to see the Oozemaster PrC for 3.5E, but since it wont get converted anytime soon Its just a pipe dream

Isn't the Forest Master some overpowered divine spellcasting barbarian with high AC class? I seem to recall that from reading about it in the books hehe.

C'mon, you know you want the Shadowbane classes.

                            Just a quickie addition:
Any non-ranger dedicated archer needs to have 13 Dex to qualify for rapid shot, and 17 Dex to qualify for Manyshot, which is in turn a prerequisite for Improved Rapid Shot.

That's something a character with high wisdom alone for Zen Archery unfortunately cannot achieve.

Shadowbane Stalker is second on my list, actually
