  • Essence Refinement

Just wanted to report that I've refined over 30 essences and have a batting average of 22% success. Is this purely bad luck or does the d100 have any more likely hood of rolling higher numbers? I know its likely bad luck, but I'll continue to document my progress, and I'll adjust my pricing of essences accordingly, but just wanted to report this number for consideration. Wonder if an alchemests skill may be able to raise the percent of sucess, say 1% for every 5 ranks? Or perhaps brew potion feat would increase it by 5%, I dunno just offering suggestions.

Perhaps if essences were used more often in creating alchemical items then the success potential could be raised?

    Thanks for any consideration,

    Durin

Just bad luck. And again, not going to make skill level alter productivity. It only affects the DC's, nothing more nothing less.

The brew potion feat is not a bad idea, though.

Well atleast something in it was at least perhaps helpful I only know of one brew potion required recipe at the moment, but there are plenty of potential potions to add out there. And adding a bonus to some alchemical process would make the mostly useless feat perhaps give at least a minor edge to some who have invested in it. (Haven't got it yet, but am planning to at later levels) Oh and any word on Lemons, Fire ale, sulfer, glittering fairy dust, and troll blood yet?

PS: If you need or want some aid in ideas for potential new potions for the modified alchemy system, just lemme know, I've got DnD books and an active imagination :P

      Thanks Kael!

Lemons, Fire ale, sulfer, glittering fairy dust, and troll blood
None of them were available before. But from the next server reset on, all of them have a chance to drop. And beyond that lemons and ale are sold in some taverns, whereas sulfur can be found in Sundrite ore veins.

I also updated the library store to no longer sell erroneous old books.

I've added scripts for Blend Cream, Softfoot, Fareye Oil, Keenear Powder, Suregrip, Freeglide and Flash Pellets. I'll make items, recipes and craft data file additions tomorrow, as well as re-implementing poison crafting.

That's all the love alchemy is going to get for a while

Just a note, I also went through close to thirty essences and had success only 4 times. My first 7 rolls were all in the 90's with one 100.

The dice must be racist against dwarves. Nothing I can do to change the random outcomes of a 1-100 percentile roll

On a completely unrelated topic Belwas, in some game systems those rolls would be absolutely stellar!

I was thinking that as they were rolling... I kept thinking WTF? why am I not rolling for magic items in the old AD&D tables. I'd have 4 relics.... Oooo maybe the Wand of Orcus or the Hand of Vecna.
