  • A slight question/ Critique regarding the level cap

    Hello Sundrinites!

Having been here for a week or so now and I would like to comment on the level cap. While I understand why its in place(( and for good reason ive seen a few capless rp servers in the NWN times go down the tube)) I have hit a bit of momentary fustration with it. There have been a few times as of late where I have been late at night , or early in the morning, looking for some rp and or what have you, and the server has been populated primarily by level 10+ people questing in areas beyond me. I understand thats the prvilage of being here for awhile, but is there any way characters (( or am I oblivious and its posted on the fourms somewhere)) of if the cap is raised by time spent in game? or simply time spent being in the character vault? Is there a list of the ammount of time spent?

I know this is a bit.. questionable all things considered. Its just that it seems like I have run up aginst a bit of a wall as far as keeping active in the community online is considered, or that sometimes my odd hours of play are keeping me from interaction.

While I am at this I would like to note that every time I have found parties, it has been alot of fun and everyones been kind enough to put up with Kira!

    Thanks for your time

(( oh, ps: I am level 5 for what its worth))

Well, I have seen a steady influx of new players lately, and they all probably have the same problem as you. =P

But I will say that the level cap is raised once per week, one level for however long it's been since your character was created.
    Characters:
Peridan Twilight, one-eyed dog of the Legion, deceased.
Daniel Nobody, adventurer and part time problem solver.

    [DM] Poltergeist :

While Peridan's statement isn't entirely accurate, it is true that the level cap will rise based on real time, not time played. It is the age of the character file regardless of how often you play them.

Think of the con to this BTW. If we didn't have a level cap, we'd be innundated with brand new level 15s within a month. Every month. We don't overvalue our older players, but we can't have their presence and achievements minimized so quickly, either.

Anyway, Kira is lots of fun. Hopefully she's alive again--those one-shot kills suck!

Oh, I guess I should elaborate. I am not really lobbing for change, its a good system in regards that people who like it, and stay with it, will have well developed characters DUE to the fact they have to have a good ammount of RP dedication to achieve these high levels/power or what not.The people that put in the time, effort and depth to help shape the world deserve that bit recongized in this way

My main reason for posting this was trying to get a rough idea of how the level cap system worked in a bit more detailed terms, if it was online or offline time, and what have you. Maybe as well to get some imput on it all

Well they say patience is a virtue! thanks for your help folks.

Yep! Being one shoted sucks! Kira is cursed. I can take her and fight bosses like the lizardman or gnoll one on one and im good, every time Im in a group they seem to pull out the riged dice and start rolling the double 20's!
