  • Black Ship

Hushed tones and whispers fill near every tavern and inn around Sundren. They all mention odd sightings of a black boat on the River Elthazar, large crates being hauled off the boats, and guards spending more times in taverns with drinks that ranks like them could not afford.

Some like to believe that some benefactor is sending out clothes and food to the Sestra refugees through these crates, but are soon dissapointed as the crates are never seen again. Some speculate that the Legion are bringing in secret weapons to destroy the Yuan-ti once and for all...

But, through the skepticism - one notion remains at the tip of a Sundarian's tongue. A question of what was in those crates, and most of all, who did the ship belong to.

  • #2
Later through the day, shoppers at clothing stores see large quantities of crates stockpiled both inside and out. When questioned, the clothiers simply mention a large textile shipment that would last them through hard times. There are guards who guard the crates from any "Thieves" who dare to inspect them.

The bulk load of crates outside of the clothing stores have begun to vanish over time, people say that they are simply being distributed to other areas of the valley - everyone knows what is in the crates, it is no secret, Narcotics. A large majority of the valley have become addicts to whatever drugs they were - and people don't seem to care that much either. They say that whoever is doing this is helping them get through hard times, that it is just helping people forget that there are even Yuan-ti roaming about.

People have begun to praise the benefactor as a savior, as rumors of the Spittlefist spread. They say that the Spittlefist got a hold on a rather large shipment, and also became addicted to the contents. A majority of the goblins are seen simply staring off into space and drooling, as if they had found peace at last.

Then there are the skeptics. There are the ones who believe this will spell out certain doom for the valley. There are the ones that believe this will destroy the glory of the valley as they know it. It is clear that the addicts who go through the withdraws become moody and aggressive. Shopkeepers have already begun to hire muscle through other means as protection money, to keep thieves from stealing goods to get their "Fix".

Notes are put up all over Sundren on behalf of the Triumvirate

For all those wishing to live drug free, happy lives!

If you are struggling with any addiction, please come to see the Triumvirate, or it's agents. The recent influx of Narcotics to our land is extremely distressing to us and we wish to help all those that are suffering, and who want help, to come and seek it. There will be no questions or scolding. The valley needs a clear head for the days to come, and those who wish to disrupt the citizens lives have struck a terrible deal with whoever is behind this influx.

Seek help, it will be Given. Compassion, kindness and Understanding.

The notes are posted by a tall, pale blond woman in a blue dress with a determined and angry look in her eyes, unless she is approached by a victim of these activities, when her eyes soften and she offers help and kind words and directs them to the Temple for help.
Bree - Bookkeeper and diplomat of Exigo.

Becky Dragonhin - Sword of the Loyal Fury, Knight of the Triad... the only Good hin in Sundren???
        Cybil Gelley (Retired)
Perry Turnipfodder - aspiring talent, happy chronicler.

There have been reports that the Temple of The Triumverate has been targeted. Much of the healing supplies and potions seemed to have been spiked with Luhix, a very deadly narcotic obtained from the abyss.

Many of the addicts being treated, or even those not hooked, suddenly show the symptoms that come from the strong drug. Whoever is doing this, has no love for the good peoples of Sundren.

Constantine looks on helplessly as another victim of the narcotic scourge writhes upon the sweat laden cot.

"Dammit, another tainted potion! We need to find out where the tainted potions are coming from or if they were actually tainted from within this temple!"

Constantine hears a shout from Cybil and he runs to her with his bandages and healing spells at the ready - exhausted, but determined to see this threat stamped out once and for all.

Shiv finds a shakey beggar asking for coin he hands it too him to watch him rush off in a hurry to buy something he has never heard. Curious he notes he should follow the next one who acts as such.

" 'haps I can turn a coin get'n what em want...though need ta see what tis an what it does...*taps chin* wonder if'n can find an nice place ta watch em without it".

(shiv's goal, find out what is, if he can peddle it, and probably for his own sick mind watch someone withdrawl in the woods. Hope to see what trouble he can accomplish IG).

Sam stumbles into the Temple Barracks of the Trimuverat. A laceration adorns her face and neck. Her armor is covered with soot, ash residue and some blood.
"I require healing..." she stutters and wobbles deeper into the temple.

To DM Cornuto: I failed, someone had 'dirty thoughts' :/

Not quite catching on what the deal is with the crates stacked outside the Comfort, Annie does notice that some people appear to be doped up in some way. She casts Restoration on a few that seem especially bad, hoping this will ease their condition, then goes to check if it may be something in the water, her concern being an epidemic.

Addicts have begun to clear off the streets as some of the independent soldiers redirect them elsewhere. Many people are seen investigating the matter, even if it is not aided by the Legion or the Red Blades.

Though it seems they have made their mark. The city seems to be returning to normal, but there are still some shady dealings. No doubt the drugs are still being pushed, just not to the mass epidemic that it used to be.

For now the city seems happy. One can spot the usual shady protector now and then, and maybe an addict groveling in an alley way...but the streets are clear...even if the drugs are still being pushed.

Eira stalked the streets and townships of Sundren, her current mood making her normal attitude seem warm and friendly.

"This is how the Legion sees fit to protect itself? A tide of drugs and weakness to demonstrate to the Yaun-Ti the utter worthlessness of humanity and the need to see this city scraped from the face of the planet like dog-shit from a shoe."

She paused at one addict, a young mother with a swaddled babe. Despite the crys and whines of the infant the mother simply sits and stared glassy eyed into the middle distance, one hand offered forward as she begged for coin.

Eira checked quickly for guards before squatting in front of the woman, grabbing the wrist of the offered hand tightly. A smile played over her lips as the woman beat inefficiently against the unyielding metal of her armour, the rhythm of the beats increasing in urgency, if not strength, as the pain of her icy grip and the numbing cold of Auril's blessings began to seep into the womans bones.

                        "Pathetic."

She released her grip, watching the woman scrabble away from her with the look of a terrified animal, her babe discarded in the haste to be away from the cruel cold. Eira regarded the dropped infant, then looked back to the mother.

"You do not need the false hope and lies of drugs" She nudged the mewling child with a boot "There is a certainty that requires your tit"

She turned and walked away from the city, while drugs blighted it's streets it was as useful as yellow snow.
                        Eira Skald - Icy bitch.
Karsten Mannerheim - Idealist and murderer.

Shiv wanders the town smiling, passing woman once noble now willing to turn tricks to get a fix. All he could say while entering the dice den "great town".

After loosing a few hands of cards, the dealer went and punched a fellow in the corner. A few words where traded, an it seemed folks took little if any care about anyone beating these addicts.

Deciding to regain his losses, a trip to the hills was in order. Only to have trouble stopping himself laughing as their stood goblins drooling on the new drug. With a smile he bound two of them and took them further into the woods.

Binding each to a seperate tree shiv rushed off to the mariner. Spoting Ulrcry he waved a flask at him smiling.

"I found a few hits of barcan, shall we see a bit a goblin fight'n ta see who gets one?"

(perhaps a few addict goblins seen bloodied up or beating each other for drugs that have been forcefully withdrawn from their drug for some human's entertainment, Perhaps shiv can sell Jimmy on the idea of smuggling in a few goblins for cage fighting under the same concept.).

Joalill, seeing the beggars dark and sunken eyes approaches him. "It looks like I have what your looking for." She pulls open a fold of her cloak displaying a fresh product of Barcan. "The first one is on discount."
