  • The Night the Stars Fell on Sundren and the Moon gave her Caress.

"I tell you, it's true!" Cazen slams his fist on the bar-top, "And damn every last motherless bastard that calls me a liar!" He regains his composure, somewhat emboldened by the Seltri, but not completely within it's hold. "So as I was saying, Elijah came to myself and Daelus, as Daelus was showing Juney..."

He audibly struggles to listen, "Yeah! The gnome! The chatty one. He was showing her the Ranger Out Post and Elijah comes to us with this story of him hunting in Mossclaw Meet or Viridale Forest or something, and he sees one of them stars streak from out of the sky and land smack in the middle of Grimaxe Hold."

"So Juney, she's exhausted and takes her rest at the Ranger's Out Post. But I'm envigorated by the prospect of seeing a star up close. So me, Elijah, and Daelus are preparing to leave when I think we may need some help. Luckily, that Mage Nocte was hanging around, so we asked him to come along."

"So there we were, Elijah, myself, Daelus, and Nocte, when we bump into this elf girl I'm not familiar with. Slight build, white hair...I think her name was Ari...Ari...something. I don't know. She gets an invitation from Elijah, and it's back on the trail. And in Viridale Forest, we bumped into..."

Cazen is overcome by a furious blush, but it could just be the alcohol, "Arawen. Yeah, y'know, another elf girl. A cute one, if I do say so myself. So we've got half of Sundren heading into the Grimaxe Hold when a battle ensues. Us against the orcs, orc mages, and even an ogre! Unfortunately, Nocte was chased into the forest by several orc that later returned. I don't know if he made it out alive, though I suspect the odds are on it. He's a tricky one."

"How many orcs? Hells, I don't know. I put it at about twenty-five orcs...but Daelus swore he lost count at thirty. Either way, there were four of their mages, a handful of goblins, and an angry ogre...and, by some favor of Tymora, we managed to win the day. I got to touch it!"

Cazen appears to be listening again, "No, you bloody twit, not the ogre! The star! Elijah took a piece of it and we followed him to the Temple of Oghma or Ohgma or whatever...and they picked out all sorts of valuables. I only got a couple of obsidian, but I was happy to just to have had a chance to touch a star."

After another round, Cazen has one more story to tell. "Oh yeah! And this was the most miraculous of all!" He motions for anybody listening to gather around. "So after that hard fought victory in Grimaxe, we're sitting around the Exigo Post when a beam of light surges through the air and alights Lord Vader!"

"You know of Vader, right? Tall, dark, perpetually hooded Stormlord?" He chuckles, "At any rate, he was pulled by the light toward Viridale with half of Sundren following him...and by half of Sundren, I mean some real heavy hitters, like Sir Cirion, Varnz, and Lady Yashia. Anyway, they were trying to help...including yours truly." He laughs, shaking his head, "It was the damndest thing I'd ever seen. But once we reached the Forest, things really go interest..."

Cazen shakes his head, a moment of total sobriety over-taking him. "Vader passed a mace that was a-lighted in the shine of the Moon on to Lady Yashia and suddenly, we were all a-lighted in the shine of the Moon." Cazen furrows his brow at a comment, "Pike off! I've not been into any moonshine, I meant this literally. We were all a-lighted by...Moon beams, I suppose."

"I'm sure it had a profound effect on the lives of Lord Vader and Lady Yashia, but for me...it changed everything." He stays silent a moment, listening, "It gave me faith in the Gods again." He orders one more Seltri, lights the fuse, shakes, and downs it in one breath. Cazen's eyes trail to the floor, a deep sigh escaping him as he stands. "Well...I've got places to be and people to see. Good evening, all." And with that, he left quietly in thought.
