Rumors sweep thru the villages and townships bordering the Viridale of how a brave band of heroes, caught behind enemy lines, slipped into the command post and took the head from the snake so to speak.

Seems a powerful Ogre Magi had arisen from the ranks and trained quite a few apprentices. The balance of power had shifted in the mossclaw alliance and the ogres had gathered together a great army.

These brave heroes are directly responsible for the army's disoulution without leadership and for many of the humanoids scattering back to the dark places they came from.

Another rumor has it that a number among the heroes were lost, Kathryn, Cirion, and Dalon fell to ogre muscle and magic.

An opposing rumor says that Dalon himself was the hero of the day, killing the High Ogre Magi himself.

Lastly, there is talk of dark cloaked humanoids in the trees seen watching the group very carefully, speck of green picking out the edges of their armor lest they seem but shadows.

Travellers from Sestra tell of a group of brave souls that after cleansing a temple of Umberlee in Port Avanthyr of an undead menace that had taken root there, they confronted a vampire in the Exarch's Keep, while the Exarch was travelling with his staff on a diplomatic mission.
Although a few servents were killed in the keep, what might have lain in wait for the exarch when he returned could have been much much worse.

When asked, they recount the names of the heroes as though they had heard their names since child hood.

Elijah overhears some of the rumors being spread over the campfire and chimes in.

Aye, I was there all right. When all was said and done, we found coffins in the Temple of Umberlee. One can only assume that that's how the vampires got there. How the dozens of ghouls got there was even more of a mystery. If you ask me, the clerics there may have been attempting to use the undead as a source of power only to have their plan backfire. Wouldn't the chaos of undead on land drive more to seek shelter by the sea? It wouldn't be beyond Umberlee if you ask me. But who really knows? We didn't find a single survivor.

I wish I could say that I helped get rid of the last vampire that fled to Sestra, but I fell behind and got lost on the way there (((I crashed and couldn't log back on))). Blast these Sundren paths! I just got to Port a week ago and I can't make heads or tails of which way to go.

Duskthorne - Bounty Hunter. "Every land needs a masked man to do the dirty work for them" (personal heroes: The Knight of the Flying Rodent and The Monk of the Arachnid Order)
