  • Signs of the beast.

Rumors have been circulating lately of animals, humanoids, and even a villager or two being found dead across the countryside.

While in an adventure-prone area this is sadly not uncommon, the reports speak of the corpses being half eaten and skinned. The heart slashed out of the chests of the victims, and the cause of death being a mixture of bites, crushing wounds, and burns.

So far whatever it is, it is smart enough to avoid being seen by anyone. Only its victims remain as evidence of its savagery.

Annie sets Mathilda to sniff out the trail of this monster. She makes sure never to let the badger out of her sight during this time.

((OOC: Annie is very confident in her badger friend's ability - there may be a gulf between her perception and Mathilda's actual tracking prowess ))
Annaleen Wiltenholm-There's always something to smile about.
Chani Kalera- Intimidation is the new diplomacy. *looms*
Eleanor "Bloody Elle" Lark - Why is the rum always gone?
Yolanda Brown - If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. But unless life also gives you water and sugar, your lemonade is going to suck.
    Astrid Hammerhand - Och!

The badger catches the scent of the same two beings at every sight of the killings. ((not sure if badgers can know what a creature is by its scent, so I will leave that out for now))

Though no sets of tracks are seen at the sights. The path is a winding and difficult one, whatever the cause of these killings leaving almost no sign of itself as it, or they, weaved through the wilderness. With the scent being almost lost several times due to Sundren's frequent rainstorms.

Then, a shock. The trail connects with a well-traveled road, then leads straight through the Sundren City gates.

The trail is about half a day old, but there has been no signs of blood or struggle. Whatever this was just walked straight through the gates of the city without even being challenged... or seen. Its impossible to tell with just a scent to go by.
