  • Wanted for Witchery

Some strange things occurred at the Exigo Trading Post at night. A spirit shaman known as Leckith determined something was amiss with a cat in the area, Cirion, paladin of Sune, discovered the little animal had a malicious past, and Tamryn used divine magic guided by Torm to see through it's deceptive form. Somewhat thrown aback by the situation at first, the undead huntress Yashia soon decided to try and catch the cat while it was unaware of her presence. Having failed, the creature disappeared into the darkness, not revealing itself again.

Soon after, while sitting by the campfire and conversing about the events that had just passed, they and several others were assaulted by a strange witch casting some kind of icy magic from a distance. Right by one of the merchants' stands. Yashia gave chase, but upon reaching Aquor she gave up, knowing that it would be incredibly difficult to find any kind of scum in a town that was full of it. Before she turned around though, she saw the hag shift into the form of a wolf, possibly to increase her running speed.

After a short discussion with Snow Hawk and one of the merchants back at the Trading Post, it was decided upon that this half orcish witch should be sought after by the authorities. So Yashia informed the Exigo Sentinels, as well as the Sundren City Watch of the events that had passed, so that a search may begin.

"The idiots better think twice before they go hunting wolves in the forests! I will be waiting for them," thinks Tellesian as he hears the rumors at Exigo.

Snow Hawk has an interesting discussion with the Keeper of the Grove. They speak of rogue shapeshifters or druids who are attacking travellers. It was pure chance that he had caught sight of the half orc woman with his dragon sight... but he had. That combined with interviewing a merchant that witnessed the attack is enough to give a very good description of Braghuru to the Keeper and all those that visit the glade.

From conversations with Night Owl and Nes'Anah, he positively matches the half orc's description as the same that attacked Night Owl in the hills above Arquor.

Snow Hawk has begun offering his special sight, to track shapeshifters, free of charge, to hunters in the market.

Regardless, now that the Half Orc woman has attacked him first, his vows allow him to strike back. And strike back he will.

          ============================================

On another note.. Masked figures in pure black leather armor have been seen around the borders of the Viridale forest, more and more often of late. So far no one has actually approached one yet though.

An Exigo sentinel listens to her describe the situation. He seems only concerned by what happens within the boundaries of Exigo. He's a bit disturbed that none of his compatriots reacted to the ice storm attack. He tells Yashia he'll bring it up with the bosses to see if they have any ideas. In the mean time, he'll inform his own men.

The Sundren City Watch seem not to care much. They hear all kinds of orc attacks at all various locations. Yashia gathers that the Legion and Exigo have been somewhat at odds over what is deemed personal property and the length to which the city watch can pursue criminals. Exigo has always been very careful to stay within the rules, but the city watch don't trust them and think they're working around the law. They say if you want help, you'll have to fill out paperwork and they'll see where it goes.

Braghuru laughed wickedly as she walked up the mountain pass, bits of newly applied flesh hanging loosely from her face. She had struck the at her hated enemies, both the paladin Hano and the druid Snow Hawk had been gathered at the campfire.
The vengence of the Icefury had manifested in the form of a winter storm, chunks of rock and ice pounding the ground, stunning those taking refuge at the post. They had given chase, but were unable to capture the hag as she bolted off towards the crossroads.

Her guise was now useless, they had seen her face, but they have only begun to taste her fury.
Tis now the very witching time of night,
When churchyards yawn and hell itself breathes out
              Contagion to this world.

Yashia grumbled upon the mention of required 'paperwork' for anything to be done by the Watch of Sundren. Was it not obvious that whoever this woman was, she was a danger to anyone travelling through Sundren as a whole? Why did someone have to die on their doorstep first before it was considered serious enough to prevent more from happening? Such things should be prevented in the first place. Why were bureacracy and politics always required for anyone to offer any help if the problems at hand hadn't yet struck the specific territories occupied by the authorities themselves? It served absolutely no purpose, other than attempting to make people think twice before potentially wasting their time in vain. To encourage people to forfeit their request simply so they wouldn't have to bother looking into anything that didn't directly concern themselves yet.

But if there was any hope, even but a small chance that they would start being helpful if she did bother to tediously fill out reports and questionnaries asking for the obvious, then as usual, Yashia felt she had to take it.

"Fine. Please show me the paperwork, and I'll write down anything that is required."
