Veritas

Rumors spread around taverns and trading posts, and any place known to frequent adventurers and soldiers, that the Veritas have become more vicious to those that strike against them. Warnings have been given through means of severed heads, and shouts proclaiming that the Veritas are the true rulers of Sundren, by right. They say that those who stand against them stand against justice, and shall be treated like the criminals that they are. Many adventurers have already turned up dead, and the threat of travelling the mountain has become very real, very fast. To the brave, certain death awaits.

Mittens grabs the massive wolf roughly by the scruff of its neck and uncerimoniously reaches into its toothy maw. She retrieves a partially chewed hand and looks over it curiously. Removing a Veritas signet ring from a saliva coated finger she tosses the trinket away. Turning back to the wolf she scolds him while wagging the mauled hand in his face.

"Chews! Chews! no swallows, is choke then." She hands the wolf back its dinner.

Sitting at a table with several patrons, an armored figure listens to the rumors as they go around the room, those at his table passing them back and forth. When they mention the Veritas, he looks confused for a moment. Have you ever wondered if perhaps it's true? I mean, everyone assumes that the way it is the way it's always been and the way it's supposed to be. Has anyone actually looked into the rumors or the history of the City government?

What if they're right? What if they are just trying to win back what was taken from them. More importantly...if they are telling the truth, how would sides be picked? Heavy discussion for a tavern... *grins and takes a drink*
