  • Schild Mountain, and Neverwinter's Finest

It begins to spread through the ranks of some of the Militia, and eventually the public, that Captain Majer and his elite soldiers from Neverwinter assaulted the Veritas Stronhold in the Schild Mountains. Partnered with a man named Karthus, and the catapult crews of the Legion posted at the mountain's encamptment, Captain Majer successfully punched a hole through the defenses of the enemy despite the overwhelming odds.

The rumors go on to say, whether accurate or not, that the explosions of the flaming projectiles from the catapults had been bright enough to make night appear as day, and that there were enough arrows hailing from above that they could make day appear as night.

The most common explanation as to why this massive attack was strategized, was that a mere lone Dwarf had fallen in battle at the peek of the mountain. For some reason, this Dwarf, alone, was worth the risk of many of Neverwinter's finest soldiers, the cost of catapult equipment, and the full effort of one Karthus El'than.

The word spreads that Captain Majer have lost two of his men in the assault. Some people who were at the Four Lanterns Inn this night say that the Captain and his Sergeant were regretted about their loss, but the opportunit to explore the Schild Mountains coincided with Majer's mission.

    - I'm sorry Sergeant, I led the boys into their deaths, I have failed on them - Lane says with a sad face.

    - Don't say that Captain - Sergeant Zig pats Lane on his shoulder - We were doing our task, you have led us well, could have been worse if you wasn't there, I assure you, I wouldn't handle the situation well enough.

A figure in armor sits and listens to the tale at a local tavern. As he gathers his shield and helm to leave he pauses long enough to inquire: "Has anyone questioned the leadership of Sundren to find out who authorized such an action? It seems odd that so many would be put in danger for the life of one dwarf whose name is not even known. And the economic toll of mobilizing such a large force so far....it makes one wonder why nothing has been done by the government to explain or justify such waste or punish the one responsible. Perhaps we should find someone to ask? Perhaps the story is even false."
