  • Public Executions

After the apprehension of a street preacher in possession of a sample of the plague intended for use against Sundren City, many of the raving Heretics already being held in custody have confessed with great vigor to similar activities. It seems that once those in custody heard the man telling his sory, they all began to clamor about their own involvement in such nefarious crimes. The word is that as many as a dozen have confessed to such deeds since hearing the man's story, and are extremely insistent that they were indeed involved in poisoning Sundren City.

Town criers and a few posters announce that a public execution has been scheduled in order to make an example of these troublemakers. Apparently it is to take place outside the gates of the city, near the Four Lanterns inn.

((The execution will take place on Saturday at Midnight GMT, which is 7pm EST))

The distinct echoes of metal boots clashing against the cobble roads can be heard in the distance - Growing louder with every passing moment, each step in perfect sequence. As the footsteps approaches you, the commotion around the poster seems to dim. Eventually you realize that both the clashing footsteps and common folk around you are silent. You follow the gawking stares of the commoners all looking towards the direction of a man bearing the right palm of Torm.

The Tormite pushes through the crowd, making few formalaties with the people surrounding him. As he makes way for the poster to examine it you hear his name spoken, "Hano. Hano Fetten." He meets the poster and inclines his head at a tilt, holding his chin with his right hand. After a moment of him analyzing the poster you hear him mumble, "Perhaps.. Perhaps this is best. I was part of the force behind them being brought to Justice, so it is only right that I witness their execution."

He turns away, content with the poster and pushes his way back through the crowd. The sharp clanking against the cobble resumes, however now growing ever distant.

*Elric, leaning against a post, a mug in one hand and a beautiful woman on his other hand, notices the holy warrior of Torm marching down the cobblestone streets and smiles*

Elric looks at the woman and says, "That is the uptight holy warrior I met a couple days ago at the Exigo grounds, near the campfire."

Elric looks at the holy warrior and chuckles, "Wow, he really is uptight."

"As to this execution, I think I have seen enough death in my lifetime, I will let the government and holier than thoughs witness the hangings."

*Elric takes a drink, kisses the woman, and then turns away, making his way to Jimmy's Dice Den.*

Akagi sits by a fountain when he hears the news. His hand has a jug, of which he takes a long pull of.

"An execution? These Westerners are more civilized than I thought. Maybe I will stop to watch."

He slouches away until the dragon on his back is lost in the crowds of Sundren City.

Kelmoth listens silently to the words of the town cryer as they profess the vile deeds of the heretics. The good people of Sundren stood gathered around the city square flocking like sheep to the words of their ignorant government officials.

"So quick they are to believe the words of such men."

"Do they truly not see the purpose of the heretics confessions?"

"Their confessions merely serve to hide a greater truth, their insistant pleas merely conceal the true identity of those responsible for this plague."

"Perhaps the officials seek to assuage the fears of the people by condemning these men to their fates, but in the end it is a meaningless act that resolves nothing."

Slipping into the shadows Kelmoth turns away, his footsteps lost in the wave of cheers behind him.

Hakafu reads the notice with disgust.

"Looks like justice gets pushed aside again in favor of extreme irrationality."

He sighs loudly as he walks away and a determined visage crosses his face.

With her elbows, Pericles negotiated a passage through the thick crowd of inconsiderate tall-folk and read the note carefully.

"Executions! Well! Tallfolk and their bloodshed! I suppose...hrm. To poison a city? Madness, pure madness..."

Muttering about the way things were much simpler at home, Peri wandered off pondering if this was just and whether she should go.

The Death warrants on these traitors have been executed. Five people were beheaded outside the city gates today, while a mostly enthusiastic crowd of citizens looked on (though it is said the executioners axe became blunt, and the final execution had to be carried out via bludgeoning). Apparently a man bearing a Tormite symbol attempted to intervene, claiming that these treasonous Heretics were in fact innocent, but he was rebuffed and the law eventually took its proper course.

Most of the common people seem satisfied that the authorities have now dealt with these dangerous individuals.
