  • Blight in the Forest

All who travel through the Viridale can see evidence of the taint there. The river ((in the 'Viridale Forest' area)) is stagnant and covered with algae, all the vegetation near it dead, and for a fair distance beyond this it is heavily diseased. The whole of the vicinity seems sickened to some extent. Those who travel North along the river will note that the further they go, the worse it becomes.

While the taint has been obvious here for several tendays, it has worsened considerably over the past few days.

Tellesian moves through the shadows rapidly, tracking the taint, always North, always North. He knows where the taint is coming from, but he wants to make sure he is right. He tried to discern the taint long ago, when it first appeared from around the Necropolis, but he was stopped by Landaren, who now is called Naradnel. He was imprisoned for a time, but finally escaped.

He will not make that mistake again. "I must alert the druids and let them know that we must muster and make a final assault on the Necropolis to stop this blight. However, it may be something more, it may be caused by another group that delights in disease and death?

"However, I do believe the answers are in the necropolis."

With that thought, Tellesian runs towards the druid glade.

Hearing about the blight, Serena immediately heads to the Viridale and looks over the scene in horror. She slowly regains her wits and starts preparations to reverse the damage, first working to contain and cure the blight before she would start to encourage the regrowth of the dead areas. All the while, she watches for evidence of the attackers.

After a hard day of work, she travels to the druid glade and reports what she has seen and been able to do to the other druids.

Scratching his chin thoughtfully the Orc scout carefully studied the creature in front of him. she stood about three feet tall resembling a hin, wore animal furs and was wildly tattooed in some tribal fashion. Now normally such a creature would be killed immediately for trespassing into Grimaxe lands, but this creature held some odd quality that he couldn't put his finger on.

The creature was obviously trying to comunicate with him, in some crude fashion. She made wild gestures as she spoke in an attempt to animate her ideas, but she made no hostile moves and despite her flailings seemed quite calm.

Disease...? maybe. Poison...? Perhaps. Evil spirits...? Definately, for that he was certain the wild hin's message spoke of. The question now was did he report his findings to his chief right away, possibly bringing this creature as proof, or hold onto this knowledge to help his family overthrow the chief...
Butch: "You know, when I was a kid, I always thought I was gonna grow up to be a hero."
Sundance: "Well it's to late now."

        Toons:
        Mittens Whitepaw (Feral Druid),
        Rose Thimblefoot (Simple Seamstress),
        Melody Mourningsoul (Cursed Bard)
Katalina Zephyr (Guardian of the Grave)
Gabrielle Dumoine (the Duchess of Waterdeep... 'onestly...)

After a recent period of relative calm in the Viridale it seems that the simmering conflict there has once more come to the surface. Plagued creatures have been spotted abroad in the forest, and the woods once more rise up to repel any who enter.

*Tellesian watches from the shadows as yet another foolish adventurer had ignored his warnings and had entered the Viridale, only to be attacked and dismembered by the diseased animals infesting the woods.*

Tellesian sighs, "damn stupid humans, will they never learn? The forest is dangerous to me, how much more dangerous is it for them? Well, I must find the source of this pestilence before it spreads to the Grove and beyond."

With that Tellesian moves deeper into the forest.

Our group was attacked by some very sickly looking orcs outside of the gnoll outpost in the forest, even by orchish standards these guys were sickly, if you can believe that. Then out of no where 2 giant moss like mounds appeared, they went striaght after the orcs, and defeated them. We were thinking we had found allies, but then these moss creatures turned on us. We tried holding them off while 1 of our group ran to get aid of the druids so as to try and comunicate with them. The assault by these creatures was relentless and we were hoping to find a peaceful way to resolve the problem, but were forced into a battle with these creatures, and had to dispatch them. starnge things are happening in the forest.

Annie is still seen frequently asking around the university for a skilled diviner. The instructors there have learned to suddenly remember a pressing appointment elsewhere - somewhere at the far end of the iniversity, preferrably - whenever the young girl - her badger usually in tow to their utter discomfort, approaches.

She visits the Druid Grove frequently, for more reasons than just to learn news of the plague. Mostly for that, of course. Of course. She would not put her own wishes and dreams before the greater good, after all.
Annaleen Wiltenholm-There's always something to smile about.
Chani Kalera- Intimidation is the new diplomacy. *looms*
Eleanor "Bloody Elle" Lark - Why is the rum always gone?
Yolanda Brown - If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. But unless life also gives you water and sugar, your lemonade is going to suck.
                Astrid Hammerhand - Och!
