  • Of Anarchy and Evil

The rumour mill has been running hot of late with word of an unspeakable undead horror stalking the land. Whilst the ragged robes it wears and the decrepit skeletal form it is stuck in may make it appear weak, word has it that it is beyond the strength of any single adventurer that walks this land.

It has reportedly gone about and demanded evil or morally ambigous acts of otherwise good-meaning and noble folk, most often of the adventuring sort, though one or two travelling merchants and pilgrims have been the source of it's sick games.

However, the authorities have not been standing idly by. It is said that the Harbingers themselves have taken a keen interest in this roaming evil and have personally began to combat it, with Wrath himself confronting the undead creature. The supposed outcome of the stand-off varies depending on who tells the story, and nearly all re-tellings of the event tend to be over-done and incredibly epic in scale; making the situation seem like a dramatic face-off of true evil versus pure good.

Whether or not this is the truth, and what the true outcome of it was, is unknown. What is known, however, is that evil yet still stalks the land, and those who travel together are to be ever watchful of their allies and of the black-hearted creature which seeks to play it's twisted games with the finest actors the world has yet to see.

Notices begin to appear in oft-travelled places within the population centres around the Sundered Valley, all of which bear the official seal of the City-State of Sundren.

Good people of the Sundered Valley,

Today, an evil blight upon this land has been smoten by a brave contingent of travellers and adventurers. The skeletal creature known as the "Eye of Fear and Flame" has been destroyed forever by this group who trapped it with the combined power of the divine and arcane magics, and who destroyed it with blades made from the strongest steel!

Rejoice and be safe in the knowledge that this vile thing shall no longer stalk the wilderness and accost travellers who place foot outside the safety of town and city alike.

    Signed,
    Lord-Commander Lionheart
    Knight of the Loyal Fury

As news on the defeat of the skeletal creature has spread, so have the rumours of the heroes involved. Two of the heroes were gossiped about more than the others. Jaus who was the mastermind behind the idea to bind the creature, and Tes the priestess of Kelemvor who enticed the creature into the trap.

It is rumoured that Jaus with his precise planning, irresistable charisma, and articulate speeches, that he was able rally Tes and a group of adventurers and lead them to their victory against the skeletal creature. Though this victory would have been impossible if not for the priestess Tes of Kelemvor who risked her own body to be used as bait. Some would even say that only reason the creature fell for the trap was because it wanted a glimpse of Tes' beauty.

The names Tes, 'the beauty of Viridale Forest', and Jaus 'the Lich Binder' are often heard in busy taverns.
