Sestra: Click Here For City Details

Having a drink at the Rusty Tankard Tavern:
The general attitude seems to be that of fear or undying loyality among the locals here who speak in either serious tones or with dark humor . The recent seizing of all assets from the petty noble house of Raylion has many
carefully choosing their words as they whisper of the Colbrite heresy. The populace is well fed as food is cheaper here than in all the valley and readily available.

A trial is had and Marshal Datton appoints his Chancellor as judge. The darkly dressed priest holds a short trial and addresses all Sestran citizens as he steps out of court. He states the following to any and all who have gathered.

The other day those loyal to faith who hold true to the values of the valley have captured one of our few, but most wanted, criminals who threatened our city internally. One Edmund Svelti. Those who aided in the capture shall be praised before all church services for this month less they desire to remain anonymous. Sentencing is as follows to all those involved with the criminal activity."

Chancellor Feallan steps out of Sestra Keep and announces the following, in which after he hands a piece of parchment over to a town crier

"Let it be known that the bounty for members of the Triad has increased two fold for their crimes against the Citadel. All involved in activities that aids in or leads to the capture or death of those who remain shall also be rewarded. Aiding or abetting Triad or former Triad members is considered treason.

By the will of our most fair and just Marshal Datton.

          **************

He sat atop a hill, his eyes fixed upon the sight of Sestra and it's keep. Light was already beginning to fail, and he found it increasingly difficult to discern any details at such a distance. As darkness finally came gloved hands worked swiftly to rouse the tiny dancing flames of his meager campfire. The fire tore hungrily at the dry twigs and branches, crackling in delight as it grew, and grew, and grew. The light danced across the trees atop their little rise, making the branches look like the claws of great beasts stretching towards their prey. With a final glance at the growing flames, and the message before it, the cloaked figure stalked off into the night...

          **************

Atop a small hill, a few miles from Sestra, a large fire could be seen in the night. A beacon. Should any Sestran decide to investigate they would come upon a bonfire and a Spear thrust into the earth before it. The shaft of the spear bearing a cryptic message set against a carved image of three bolts of lightning...

A recent bandit strike near Sestra has merchants questioning the safety on the roads towards the town. One man even dared to say that Marshal Datton and Lord Lyonstongue met defeat in an attempt to remove these undesirables.

              The Wizard's Judgment

Rumors spread that an abandoned outpost near Sestra's borders was recently commandeered by a small group of ex-Hands, supposedly seeking justice against former Archmagus Dante Swift. The leader of these magi, an ex-Elite Magus named Varaal, accused Dante of being the reason the Left Hands were implicated as Black Hand conspirators in the Day of Broken Blades and attempted to take Dante's life. Though the effort failed, Varaal remains at large and has promised to pass judgment upon the Archmagus-turned Banite.

One Hand Fallen, One Hand Black

Rumors begin to circulate around Sestra that the former Left Hand of Mundus known as Varaal has been captured and imprisoned by the Black Hand. Supposedly the wizard was brought to Dante, Archmagus of Sestra, by a mercenary company known as "Meridan's Marauders." How a mercenary company was able to incapacitate a Hand of Mundus, no one knows; many find the whole thing suspicious. Nevertheless, the bounty was collected and the Hand now rots in Sestra's prisons.

In other news, Sestra's border patrols are increased substantially, some say in preparation of reprisals by Varaal's allies still at large.

                    Dante, Victorious

Varaal, killed? Could it be true? Rumor has it the two powerful magi finally squared off ... and it was Dante who emerged the victor. All hail the Archmage of Sestra. All hail the Black Hand.

Those that frequent Sestra might notice unnatural tremors and quakes in the aftermath of Varaal's death.

                      The End of Varaal

Rumors spread like wildfire that as Varaal's last act of vengeance against Dante and his Black Hand allies, scores of mutated Sundrite Elementals tunneled themselves up into Sestra from underground, attacking everything in site. Only through the actions of Hashart Datton, Landristin Lyonstongue, Allan Reyne, and Dante Swift was Sestra spared.

Efforts to repair the damage done to Sestra have already gone underway, but the citizenry have never been more certain of the power of Bane and his faithful.

Strange rumors flow from Sestra that Archmage Dante Swift has been promoted to Marshal, and now carries the words of Exarch Datton. Only those that know the inner workings of Sestra's power structure know if this is true.
