  • A Naming Contest!

    ‘The Club’ Naming Contest
    It would appear that motor-mouthing Luckbringer Johanna Patson was serious when she spoke of her club. During those long ‘business meetings’, which to the untrained eye might have seemed little more than her spending time with her councillors Thresh and Leikny, it would appear actual details were being hammered out. Evidence of this can be found in the fact that street-urchins all over the region are suddenly:

    a) Found spending stags in a fashion commonly considered above their usual means

    and

    b) Telling everyone roughly the following, handing out sheets of paper:

    Naming contest
    A naming contest has begun to find a good name for the organization and its related museum. All persons are free to enter as many suggested names as they wish, paying 500 stags per entry. After sufficient suggestions have been collected, the ‘President’ and her two councillors, neither of whom entered a name themselves, will pick the winner. This winner receives the full amount of stags entered into the contest.

    Note Names that can be applied to both the adventuring organization as well as the museum it is tied to (see below) will have a leg up over names that cannot.

    Names may be submitted to either Johanna Patson or councillors Thresh or Leikny.

    Background information:
    First and foremost, the organization will be centered around a museum. This museum will hold separate wings for: i) Archeological finds, ii) Biological finds, iii) Art (heroic tales, poetry, accounts of expeditions, literature) and iv) Technology / Artificing v) Spellcraft and Divinity.

    Members of the organization are expected to be adventurers, archeologists or hands-on scientists / artificers, who aim to fill the museum to the brim with the fruits of their exploits, so they may be enjoyed by the public at large.

    The organization’s purpose is as follows:

    [...] is first and foremost an organization for adventurers. We aim to provide the tools, training and guidance necessary for new adventurers to begin their careers in a safe and ethical manner, and with the ultimate aim of making the valley a better place and to fill the museum with such treasures that it provides perpetual entertainment to any and all visitors.

    As such, our founding principles are:

    Freedom
    Adventure
    Boldness
    Brotherhood and Sisterhood
    Love
    Redemption

    We are a brotherhood, a society of equals who pool our resources, knowledge and experience to enable each other to succeed.

    New members are provided with the basic equipment needed to begin their careers, and receive mentoring from our veterans as they desire.

    Members of [...] are free to pursue their own lives, so long as their choices aren't hideously evil. [...] will never ask anything of its members without giving them a choice. We provide opportunities for those who would step up and take them.

    We welcome any quests offered forth by the community at large, so long as they are legal and good. Our members are free to accept quests as they like, but are under no obligation to do so. […] is not a mercenary organization; as such, quests will generally have rewards that are obtained in the fulfilling of the quest itself (bardic tales, treasure findings, archeological / scientific findings). While a reward for a quest may be offered, members of […] do not work on a per-contract basis.

    We proudly display our members' accomplishments. The noble deeds of our veteran adventurers are recorded, their praises sung. The fruits of these labors will be presented in the museum.

    [...] first and foremost values the freedom of our members, but we recognize the need for some structure and organization.

    The [...] is governed by an elected President and a number of appointed Councillors. The President can be removed by a majority of Councillors should they find them to be unfitting of the position. Given the dangerous nature of adventuring, should the President of the organization be missing for longer than 2 tendays in a row, they will be replaced.

    Any disputes between our members are resolved internally. Available members are called to assembly, of which three are chosen by chance to stand in judgement.

      Upon learning of the details of such a scheme, James takes about two minutes to consider the implication of the declaration and sets out to locate Journeyman Starweaver to discuss possibilities.

        Thresh, in the wake of several days of excitement, has nailed up One of the sheets of paper by the Second Rest Inn to help remind and encourage participants in the contest, and put the word out for her 'Club Without A Name Just Yet'.

          After some time and a discussion with Miss Patson and Journeyman Starweaver, James makes his way to the Second Wind and appends a small note to the bottom of the flyer posted there.
