  • Crossing Patrols

There has been activity recently along the roads of Sundren. Lord Esmond Aurelianus has been patrolling the lands north of Avanthyr, watching for Banite encroaching. Sigurd of Avanthyr has been placed in charge militia in the Port, and has been recruiting troops from the masses within for training. As a result, a few patrols of Avanthyr militia have left the relative safety of the port in order to survey the surrounding area. Legion patrols have yet to reach the southern portion of Sundren, as their patrols rest mainly near the City and the Gate of the Sunderer.

These groups of warriors travel, but have yet to encounter any serious resistance on the roads.

Stirrings have begun in Sestra, however. As the nights grow longer, and winter crawls in towards the valley, Korvus Tehk's troops have grown stronger, more deadly, and infinitely more patient. As the sun wanes in strength, so does theirs wax.

It is only a matter of time before paths cross.

((Event for next Monday, 7:30 P.M. EST. If you're involved in any of the groups listed above, please inform me of your participation.))

I laughed so hard when I saw that Artemis quote in your sig. Sadly, it is the second time one of my characters has been quoted with a major typo/misspelling in the text. I need to train more, send in Mavis Beacon!
I can't slow down, I can't hold back though you know I wish I could. No there ain't no rest for the wicked until we close our eyes for good!

Ok folks, here's the setup for tonight:

I don't know exactly how many of you are attending, because all I have to go on is hearsay and whatever is posted on this thread. However, I'm assuming it'll be close to 6 v. 7-8, depending on who shows up. Assuming there are more of one side than another, the vamps may be let in as dusk hits.

The event will take place in two phases.

Phase One: This is a slightly OOC phase, as it determines starting points and troop count. While each of you have a certain number of troops as per part of the numbers that we DM's have, they won't come into play because of a few considerations, mainly being I don't want to diminish them unfairly. So, instead, we have Phase One.

In this phase, each side will decide on a small, four PC (depending on player count) team. Each team will be placed on a map, on separate sides from one another. In between you all will be several encounters of enemy hostiles, each with a mini-boss. Each mini-boss has a token. Your job, as this 'vanguard' group, is to capture as many of these tokens as possible and return to your base alive. Assuming you run into the other team, and someone is grievously wounded from one side with a token in their possession, it'll default to the other team. You must have every living (not necessarily incapacitated) member of your team at base to consider the round over for your team.

Phase Two: Whomever has the most tokens when they reach their base is able to pick starting positions for their side on the map first, and has a multiplier of NPC troops to represent the more advantageous positioning you've won as a result. The remaining PC's, as in the ones who did not participate in Phase One, will participate in this phase as the leaders of the troops. The PC's who did participate in Phase One will be unable to take place in the battle, or offer aid beforehand.

And that's pretty much it. We can do some RP before the fight, see if anything happens that's unexpected, but it's pretty straight forward. If this event is popular, I'll continue to do one a week, keeping a tally of wins and losses on a fun little grid map I've made, and at the end of a certain period of time I'll give a tangible bonus to the side that wins the most often. If the DM team deems it appropriate, it can even have IC consequences for the various factions.

If you have any questions, feel free to post them here before tonight!

Sounds like a pretty good system. I look forward to hearing how it works.

Quintin happens to be at the port today to visit with his fiancé, so count him in for helping Avanthyr to patrol, especially if his cousin Esmond is going to be there.
Tigen Amastacia: Died in events so you didn't have to.

Quintin Ulsteris: Nice-guy Legion engineer, deceased son of House Ulsteris.

Clandriel Cain: AKA "Fire-eyes" AKA "Demon hunter" AKA "OH MY GOD, WHY IS HE STILL STABBING ME!!??"
