Gloomy Sightings to the Northeast

Recent dates have been greeted by the appearance of grave markers along the roads, particularly those heading north and east from the Pit's circumference. Each mound has been marked with a small collection of stones, upright planks of wood, cheap baubles, or the occasional bundle of shrubbery clippings.

These superficial graves seemingly hold little to no significance, for they give no telling of who is buried --- nor is anyone buried at all, should they be unearthed by the profoundly curious --- and evoke no aggressive response if disturbed.

As Valen comes across the increasing number of gravestones, curiosity strikes his otherwise indifferent demeanor. He decides to follow the path laid by their gloomy trail, hoping to catch a glimpse at their source.

The young Lathanderite happens across the grave markers along the road, pausing to study them carefully. She leaves them undisturbed as she continues along her patrol, but makes a point to look for anything else out of the ordinary on the following nights.

The dilapidated and normally avoided dirt roads encircling the Necropolis have cause for recognition, for the last day has sprouted similar mounds dotted along their route sans decoration. Whomever is responsible is straying as far away from the heart of the graveyard as possible, though whether they fear the risen departed or not is unknown.

Although more spaced out than previous incarnations, a series of roadside markers have trailed off towards the great Mossdale Forest the past few days. Their number is far less substantial compared to other places this proverbial caretaker has visited, though each one carries more significance with an adornment of unearthed scraps from the Second Bloodmaim Wars.

While relatively useless in its current state, the broken, shattered and rusted armor of the Legion was precariously placed so that it wouldn't easily be uprooted by the elements.

The turning of Selūne has resulted in markers popping up near the former Veritas Stronghold nestled in the Schild Mountains, though they skirt a wide berth around past and present military outposts. Much like their counterparts near the Necropolis, their creator is smart enough to not disturb the patrols they tread dangerously close to.

Wherever possible, the mounds are decorated with green wildflowers that grow in abundance throughout the basin, in addition to tokens mirrored by their predecessors.

Far to the southeast of the valley, beyond the basin within which the Sharahan thicket grows, alcoves cut into the landscape have received uncommon adornment. Following the pelagic coast towards Port Avanthyr, the one responsible for the burials elsewhere has constructed especially elaborate keystones, complete with glittering shells and trinkets taken straight from the shore.

However, for how much love was put into crafting them, it's unlikely they will ever be as equally appreciated due to the incredibly remote location.

The more recent markers begin to acquire another curious trait, following the path of their creator. At night, particularly when no moonlight shines upon them, they emanate a faint mist.
A curious individual would eventually locate a tiny amethyst flake at each afflicted marker, and anyone sufficiently practiced in the art of religious ritual could ascertain that despite containing no remains, the markers are being consecrated; although to what purpose is unknown.

Nearly two fortnights have passed since the caretaker last left their keystones around the valley, superficial graves neither springing up during this time nor have the ones unearthed by vandals or the elements been restored. It seemed that the one responsible had long since given up on their eccentric efforts, except for the past two nights which insinuate otherwise.

A few trails close to Sestra's main trade route have recently found decoration, the loam gathered here and there with the intention of continuing where their creator left off. All of the mounds are incomplete, however, and have been wisely abandoned halfway into their construction.
