  • Rally in Port Avanthyr

In a sign of increasing activity from House Meriadoc, another speech is given. This one is delivered with far more decorum and presence than the last as the scion of the House, Evelyn, stands at a recently devised pulpit bearing blue and black insignias.

"Citizens of Port Avanthyr, my friends:

"The time has come for us to address the current state of our city, and the valley at large, with candor and firm resolve. A problem will not be solved by avoiding it, and there is no need to shrink from fully examining the situation honestly and boldly. Avanthyr will endure as it has always endured, will revive and will prosper.

"First of all, allow me to assert that fear, above all things, is our chief enemy. Fear of the unknown, both within Sundren and from enemy shores, is a poison which paralyzes our efforts to do what is necessary, and what is right. We must refuse to allow this poison to take hold here, to shun it, to laugh at it, so that we might once again strengthen our resolve to become an example to our brothers and sisters currently struggling for their lives across Sundren.

"In every dark hour, the understanding and support of the people is essential to victory, and in this critical time, I now ask you to lend me your strength, your conviction, and your spirit so that together we may face our common obstacles. A recovery effort is already underway here in the Port, and I - together with the whole of House Meriadoc - have begun formulating a series of plans that will extend that effort to other parts of the valley. The sooner we can aid our friends in other areas, the sooner we will all be able to prosper as one.

"To assist in this recovery effort, a vanguard of skilled men and women has begun to take shape in the halls of Avanthyr Hold, but we need your help. I seek dedicated members willing to pledge their strength and know-how to the various tasks that await us. And while highly valued, it does not take a strong sword arm to join: scholars, hunters, musicians, engineers, magicians, and priests are just a few examples of the people whose skills we will put to effective use, today.

"Together, let us meet the challenging days ahead in the warm courage of unity, brotherhood, and hope. To Avanthyr, I thank you for your continued resilience, and to the rest of the valley: help is coming."

((Any PCs interested in joining this effort are invited to express their interest here, or post reactions. Feel free to find Evelyn in game or send me a PM. Thanks!))
Evelyn Meriadoc - One Step Ahead

The thronging crowd parted slightly as a somewhat disgruntled red-robed, flame-haired Elf made his way from the rear near the Mariner to see what all the racket outside was about.

Craning his neck to see past a particularly tall Human's shoulder, he had seemingly arrived just in time for the regally dressed woman to begin her speech. As she continued speaking, he would nod his head slightly several times, though his face remained largely expressionless.

As the speech came to a close he let out a long sigh "I only hope they can live up to such high aspirations."

Turning, he started to head back to the Mariner when a young boy perched on an upturned crate caught sight of him, eyes widening "Ey! You's a magican aintcha? Shouldn't you go see her ladyship?"

The kid only continued to stare at Lan with his wide eyes, apparently lacking the fear most of urchins displayed. Now a small smile crept onto the Elf's face, and he tossed the boy a gold coin as he answered "Yes child, I suppose you're right. I am a magician."

Lan wore a thoughtful look on his face as he walked back to the Mariner.

Drake takes a step at the appropriate time up to Lady Meriadoc, bowing to her in respect. Handing her a letter, bowing again and walking off, it reads

You never cease to amaze me with your potential abilities, and I believe I can give you an answer now. I will be assisting you here in the near future. First, I need to make sure that by doing so - I won't be cutting myself off from my sister in any way. I believe in your movements and where you are going - but I believe more-so that family comes first. I hope you understand ma'am. Either way- whichever "side" I am seen on, I will support you if you have anything you wished done.
