  • Luskan Hunt

Daniel makes quiet inquiries as to how the shipping lanes have been lately with some of the sailors and dockworkers down at the Mariner. Furthermore, he inquires if any Luskans have been around since the blockade, but only to folk like Tyrsis. He buys a few drinks, wets a palm or two with some gold, and in general keeps his ears open.

((OOC Info, please disregard unless involved in the Coin))

Daniel also makes a few trips to Wolf, the Shadow Thief representative within the Eboncoin, in order to glean some information on possible Luskan presence in Sundren trading waters.

The docks are, as always, abuzz with news and gossip of both the shipping world and port life.

Daniel hears that the whaler 'Heavy Petting' has returned from seeing the Luskan vessel 'Scream if you want to Burn Faster' back to international waters and is making preparations to leave on a hunt.

Lucretius Jones, Captain of the 'Goldstream', is in port, rumour has it his vessel was halted while en-route from Waterdeep by a Luskan vessel and had much of his cargo 'Confiscated' for obviously false reasons.

Osric Phelps, midshipman aboard the 'Spacious Reasoning' swears blind he saw a battered but recognizable Swan-Ship near the Ixis chain of islands.

Other news in the port concerns the quietness of the Meridoc clan, a strange lack of fish in normally abundant fishing grounds to the South, an upcoming Scrimshaw carving contest and the tragic loss of the 'Look Good or Get Funny' the wreck of whom was recently found near Ixis with no survivors.

Wolf and others are happy to point out that the Luskans are well known as a pirate and parasite nation. The position of their city and marine inclination has allowed them to plunder the trade routes between Icewind Dale, Sundren and the South for many many years. After the blockade was broken their activity died off to almost nothing save a few distant sightings, a couple of recent attacks on vessels and closer sightings might indicate they've managed to rebuild a lot of their fleet and are once again doing what they're good at: Feeding off of the riches of others.

////Above post edited with regard to Eboncoin. Also:

Jack Shelliac, Captain of the 'Another Mans Wife' is rumoured to occasionally make port in Luskan while en-route from Sundren. As a free lance trader this is his right, but given the ports relationship with Luskan it's no surprise to find out Jack and his crew rarely receive favourable treatment in Avanthyr.

((I'm assuming anyone who spends most of their time in the Menacing Mariner, and who deals regularly with sailors...say for example selling lucky charms and minor magic items would have heard these rumors? Gather Information +2, no ranks just Cha 14, and Knowledge(Local) +8 if that's relevant))

((To open up more rp avenues, yes most of this would be fairly easy information to come by in the port)
