Path to Peace?

Posted in numerous places through out the land, both for the common folk and for the those that have legitimate control of the land. The following is obviously a peace proposal to end the suffering caused by the civil war.

Whereas the legitimate government of Sundren has been in dispute for 300 or so years;
Whereas many have suffered loss on both sides in the struggle to establish rightful authority;
Whereas the current climate has changed so we need all our strength to repel the Bloodmaim;
Whereas we have a strong, able forces equal to any one or more legions in the valley;
Whereas the people in support of the Veritas would follow the leadership to establishing an area of government within the lands of Sundren;
Whereas the current area outside Mossdale is currently overrun with Bloodmaim Orcs;
and Whereas the current government lacks the resources to establish a force to reoccupy the area

Be it Resolved that it makes sense for the Veritas forces to:

1) Take up the protection of that land in exchange for the following:
a) Amnesty for their past transgressions as seen by the government of Sundren;
b)Allowed to rule as a noble house within the area formerly protected by the 12th Legion;
c)Allowed to rule as a voice therein and to have equal sway for similar portions of land within the current government areas of Sundren;

2) Protect and help in equal measure as a Legion equivalent within Sundren all the laws therein within previously stated lands.

3)To protect the people of Sundren against further incursions against the Bloodmaim once the war has driven them back.

4)Be allowed to farm, conduct commerce and other merchantile activities as other similar units of noble land within Sundren.

5)To fight along side the Legions in an effort to fight off the Bloodmaim now as a show of good faith in this endeavor.

A derisive sneer curves the lips of a petite blonde Legionnaire when a piece of propaganda finds its way into her mailed fist. "Ridiculous," she openly scoffs before tossing aside the parchment into a nearby trash bin.

Looking over the sheet of paper with the proposal a young Ilmatari priestess and medic chimes up.

"Both sides have suffered, both sides are intransigent at the moment. The only way they will listen is if their supporters stand up and say WE WILL NOT LET OUR CHILDREN DIE FOR YOUR WAR!"

"I've lost a brother and a cousin to this war, and I've had enough of it. Peace must be achieved, if one side will not listen to the other, or if they will not sit down and talk in a civilized manner to end the bloodshed, then Sundren will continue to be seen as weak by it's real enemies!. The Bloodmaim and the Black Hand would love nothing more than to see this pointless war continue. If there is to be an end, both sides have to bend."

"In the not so distant past an noble emissary from one side was summarily executed before she could talk to anyone willing to sue for peace -- she is a Martyr now, a symbol. Not long after that the other side blew up a barracks and formed even more Martyrs. It's not something the people of Sundren want. The people want Peace; a place to do commerce without worry, and to live as a free people, right!?"

She looks at those around her and encourages those around her to plea for peace in the name of children and unborn babes that will have to continue to fight for a war that should not be, and for a peace that must happen now, while the people have Strength.

Rumours spread about the Veritas joining the fight in the Virdale, and the clasping of hands between the leaders of the forces there. And the cries of "SUNDREN!" heard over the battle field and built up comradery between the two great armies of Sundren once again fighting side by side to push back the Bloodmaim Scourge. Those not familiar with the previous joining in battle are informed that they fought once before together to drive the Orcs from the Schild. Perhaps if that day had not occured, this one would have failed; it is a time to bring the conflict to an end!

Rumours continue as word spreads that the legion still fights along side the Veritas. Perhaps the people are spurred to talk as well, but any comments heard by a young woman are fostered if talk turns to eventual peace between the Rebels and the Legion. It's time that the people of the valley tell those in charge that they don't want their children dieing for a war that is far to long in the running. Peace now!
