  • Murder Most Foul

Lately the Sundren Valley has had a spate of murders done in the most horrible fashions. Many of which where the victims are kept alive but creatively mutilated in a fashion that treating them ends up killing them... To date, only one survivor; A common washerwoman found in the military ward. She is comatose at the moment, but the authorities and healers are hoping for her to come to to help point the finger at the perpetrator. Some whispers from the barracks say that the scene leaves many clues that a fanatic of the dead god Bhaal is doing the work.

As of this morning a lone child, covered in blood was found outside the way Inn. He was taken in by the state, and the authorities found that his entire family had been killed, his father being flayed and stretched out like a skin being dried was still alive... at least until those on the scene tried treating him.

The child has valuable news: The perpetrator of these murder is a slight woman, wearing a dark dress, and prone to laughing madly. She claimed to be a priest of helm when she approached the family the child states, but the Helmites vehemently deny such a preposterous claim, stating that she's Lying.

All members of authority, and citizens of noble heart are to report or arrest any person fitting this description so she can be properly questioned and if guilty, charged for these strings of murder.

"I'm a doctor, damn it; not some ego-driven, horse-blinder'ed hero!," announced Doc, to no one in particular as he strides into the House of the Triad. He makes his regular rounds quickly today, but they are still regular. He keeps to the routine: first checking in with the Broken Ones on shift for emergencies, reviewing the remaining patients in clockwise order, and avoiding Melchoir as best he can. Still, his face is red and his mind is clearly not-at-ease. He doesn't like all this extra attention. "Save all the pageantry and worship for them paladins," he mutters, again to no one in particular.

His speed in the rounds gives him some extra time to check in on the washerwoman. He cleans and dresses her wounds, offering prayers as needed and stitching up her more mundane cuts. He pauses a moment to hold her good hand - the one not missing fingers. "Look what you done, you sonuvagun. All this ruckus... you'll steer clear of them dark alleys from now on, I reckon. But yer a fighter, alright. You'll pull through. Alright then..."

He sets her hand back on the bed gently. He closes the door behind him and seeks out Ser Darius Blackwell.

While the maimed woman still rests unconscious within the Temple of Helm, the murders that have been propping of every few days or so seem to have stopped. At least for a short while, some say that the killer has lost heart and stopped, some say he converted and seeks repentance, while some say that she may already be arrested as there was talk of a nutter woman being arrested by the legion a few days ago on grounds of a different charge... oddly enough though that's when the daily body-discoveries stopped.

Though this coming dawn, it was noticed the guards were abuzz at the jailhouse and barracks, while later that day, several woman with shrill voices or odd behaviours were to have complained of being accosted by legionnaires.

"Hells, twas her?!," exclaims Doc. "I done seen her try to curse a man. Witchery and assassination ain't normal bedfellows, I reckon, but twice the reason to end her evils. Her cursin' weren't potent; odd that she'd be a skilled assassin." Doc mulls over the paradox as he visits the scene of the crime. He explains he was the medical examiner on scene of the only surviving attack and his comparisons to that scene might prove invaluable. He then pauses for two days vacation at assateague island before attempting any skill checks.

When Sile hears the latest gossip, she seems to be very unhappy about being mentioned as "the nutter woman" and for a short moment fights the overwhelming urge to let them show, here and now, what does that word actually mean! But ... not today. There will be time enough. Later. Because she WILL come back! SOON!

A rag-wrapped elf and a bespectacled armored man of great build accompany a woman with little more than a white ribbon lacing her hair together into the waiting room of Sundern's jailhouse. They wait there for the guard by the gate to admit them beyond, with the flash of an Elite Magi's signet ring hoping to hurry the procedures along.
