  • Odd Disasters

"What the hells do you think that is?" The Legionnaire called above the howling winds that covered Port Avanthyr, pointing at the green lightning striking the light house.

"I don't know! But I'm sure as heck staying away from it." The scholii clutched his staff as the gale blew back his Legion robes. The two made their way to the nearest shanty house, taking shelter against the wall.

"Get on in here!" An old woman shrieked from the house. "Bad things are about this eve! Spirits!"

"Don't be daft, woman." The scholii scrambled inside, wiping water from his face. "The spirits don't trouble Sundren. At least, none native to this valley."

"Aye." The old woman cackled as her eyes flickered with otherworldly light.

"Not from around here, they don't."

Picking him self out of the dirt, ears ringing from the lightning strike that knocked him down the young monk looks on amazed at the wolf standing at the base of the lighthouse. The wolf crackles and snaps its body formed of lightning. The wolf gives the monk a decidedly canine laughing look, tongue lolling out of its mouth before both it leaps into the air and vanishes along with the storm.

Later the monk can be seen questioning friends and acquaintances about electric wolf elementals and green lightning. Though he admits the wolf might have been a result of being dazed by the lightning strike it is not said with conviction.

A form hangs above the tall cliffs, kneelng down to gaze over the land. A tattered cloak on his back while a hood hangs over his head.

"Seem that the lands are becoming bad again. Why does this place always call me back?" He stands, pulling a peice of rock out from a pouch, looking it over for a moment before putting it away. "I'll have to talk to whome ever leading the glade." He speaks to himself softly, before taking a running jump off the clif. His form shifting to a bird as he drops to the ground, catching the wind under his newly wings and flys off into the distance.

Having heard rumors, many greatly exaggerated, Vorsan becomes very interested in the event, wondering if it is related to the planar disturbances recently brought to his attention. His other research set aside momentarily, he ventures out to the Port City, looking for eye witness accounts. He introduces himself as a researcher of the Hands of Mundus, wishing for eye witness accounts to any he crosses.

Katalina sat at her writing desk going over some notes of her scientific observations as of late.

"Summoning an elemental from the plane of fire was a disaster, as a greater nightmare was gated in instead." She scribbled into her book.

"Now, mister Ash's observations of the lightning wolf are curious, as I did not know such a creature existed (or could be brought onto this plane for that matter)." She dipped her pen in the ink well, but her hand paused a moment, then she placed the quill down and thumbing through her field notes again.

"Were is it?" she mumbled to herself over and over as she spread the mismatched and dog eared pages out on the writing desk. "Ah yes! The Elder Earth Elemental from Pioneer's Way road!" She said as she held aloft her observations of the fateful encounter. After a few minutes of reading, she pulled out a fresh parchment from the desk and began to write anew.

            "Dear Archanist,

I bring to your attention two interesting encounters that may hold some importance. The first being those of a "lightning wolf" described by witness in Port Avanthyr (see annexes A through C), and the second being my recent encounter with an Elder Earth Elemental (see attached annex D).

It is my belief that these events are related and are as a result of Rashemi spirits or spirit influence within Sundren. I bring this to your attention Archanist, as it may affect Thayan interests within this valley. As such I will continue to dedicate time to prove (or disprove) this theory.

If this Theory interests you, then I await your further direction in the matter.

            Your faithful servant

            signed
            Katalina Zephyr
            Research Assistant & Caretaker"

She quickly hurried the letter to the library clerk for delivery and on her way back to her little writing desk paused at one of the large bookshelves. Sliding the ladder over, she quickly climbed to the seventh shelf and ran her fingers along the spines of the books as she read them to herself. With a confident smile she pulled one particular tome from its resting place and carried it to her desk. Her hand ran over the intricate gold lettering on the old leather cover:

"Observations on Conflicts with the State of Rashemen 1100 - Present" She smiled again, thinking of the last time she fought in Rashemen.
Butch: "You know, when I was a kid, I always thought I was gonna grow up to be a hero."
Sundance: "Well it's to late now."

            Toons:
            Mittens Whitepaw (Feral Druid),
            Rose Thimblefoot (Simple Seamstress),
            Melody Mourningsoul (Cursed Bard)
Katalina Zephyr (Guardian of the Grave)
Gabrielle Dumoine (the Duchess of Waterdeep... 'onestly...)

Reports of these 'natural' disasters roll in. An earthquake at Valley Road. An eruption of flame from the Schild Mountains. The Legion remains commentless, saying that there's only so much relief they can provide.

In the meanwhile, rumors are going around of some kind of creature making itself known at each site. Possibilities range from dragons, to demons, to beasts beyond anyone's knowledge.

All that is known for certain, is that the land is in turmoil. Whatever is happening, it has disrupted druidic circles and causing most of them to recoil in horror as these events take place. Of course, some of the more chaotic land worshipers seem to delight in these events, saying that the chaotic triad, Talos, Umberlee, and Malar are responsible.

What is on everyone's mind is this: What else is there to come?

((OOC note: The events will continue tomorrow night, around 8 p.m. EST for those interested))

Vorsan paces the halls of his small chamber within the Left Hand fortress of Sinistrum. As he paces before the littered desk, he absently rubs the dark rune burned into his skin, looking down upon the open tomes and scrolls.

His mind wanders many roads, taking him back to the events preceding, the words "You are mine." driving him beyond hunger, beyond exhaustion. Of all the texts, and all the mage already knows, he has yet found nothing, and that knowledge unnerves him. He rubs the rune on the back of his hand, and sets in motion the beginnings of a plan to discover just what he has brought upon himself. A path with dangers all its own.
