The night sky was peaceful and serene, not a cloud in the sky, when the fireworks started.
From the direction of the Gates of the Sunderer, a streak of black lightning soared into the sky and erupted into a brilliant display of dark wonder. The magical display was visible from all over the valley. People in the towns and the city came outside to watch the brief but spectacular show, wondering as to its source.
The energy surged up into night sky and scattered into the air, vanishing.
A few moments later, campfires, torchlights, lanterns, and even magical bulbs of light across the valley flickered and died one by one until the whole of the land was plunged into a sudden blackout.
This blackout lasted only a few seconds. Almost as soon as it begun, it ended: lights slowly flickering and fading back into their original illuminations. This caused a minor panic in the populace for the few seconds everything was dark.
A partol of Legionnaires, a Hand of Mundus in tow, were seen dispatched to the area of the Gates of the Sunderer, but nothing of consequence was found (or so they say).
The next day, the valley returns to business as usual, but the taverns and shops are abuzz with gossip and wild speculation as to the nature and mystery of the magical lightning and the sudden blackout thereafter.
No one in the Legion or Hands of Mundus appears to be commenting on the strange event.
