  • Sundren Swordsman Tournament!

*The following fliers are posted throughout Sundren City, the Second Wind Inn, and the Drunken Dragon Inn (if allowed) by Ramza Xantheus himself. They are very colorful, to attract children's attention, and Kyle's. Furthermore, Ramza offers small change to any homeless looking commoner or crier to read and advertise it out loud for the illiterate crowds.*

    Sundren's Bout of Steel

Seeking sponsors and swordsmen far and wide!

Are you an excellent Blacksmith? Or perhaps you are an incredible swordsman? Do you think you are the best, like no one ever was?

Do you have what it takes to be legendary?

In the following tendays, we will be collecting sponsors all across Sundren who will find champions to sport their wares in a valiant clash of arms in the arena, to see who is the most skilled, and who can provide the best wares in all of Sundren!

Not for the poor of skill, or weak of heart!

Only the best of the best of the best will be competing, so if you are unsure of your skills, then do yourself a favor and stay home, or in the audience! You could seriously be injured! If you are the best of the best, can provide the best of best equipments, and/or want to become filthy stinking rich then keep reading!

    So you're a Sponsor?

Excellent! This is a perfect opportunity for you to advertise your weapons and equipment for all of Sundren to see, granting a boon to your business. All you need to do is find a champion that will don your equipment. (See the rules on equipment and champion entry.) Alternatively, you can view the submitted list of sponsor-less champions, and select one of your liking.

    Rules of Equipment
    • All equipment used by the champion must be crafted and provided by the same person or party.
      • Deity's are not included as part of your party, for you god-relic wielding individuals, unless you use only the equipment crafted by him (personally)!

    • The equipment can not be overly nefarious in any manner.
      • No poisonous weapons.

    • Consumable items are not allowed, however charged items that serve purposes other than its casting can be used (e.g. boots with the Expeditious Retreat casting can be used, as can the spell be)
      • No potions.
      • No scrolls.
      • No wands.
      • No traps.

    • All equipment must be presented for screening a day before the tournament, to be held and confirmed that they meet the previous requirements.

      So you are a swordsman?

Then saddle up and prepare, because the ride to the top is a rough one! You must first ensure that you are not an enemy of the city-state of Sundren, because then you would be kill-on-sight in the middle of Sundren's best swordsmen, and that is just dumb! Don't be dumb! Second, you must read the rules of champion entry to be certain that you meet the qualifications, and not the disqualifications. Third, you must either find a sponsor or apply to be sponsored by a sponsor, or here, where we will try and find a sponsor for you.

      Rules of Champion Entry
      • The champion's name, birth date, birth origin, and status (faction affiliation and rank, if any) must be presented and/or submitted a day before the actual tournament.
      • Each champion must provide 1,000 stags as entry fee. This can be provided by himself, if without a sponsor, or the sponsor themselves.
      • If you are subject to the Velik or Anderson Act, you must provide your proper papers with your submission.

      Rules of the Arena
      • Purposefully lethal blows will not only get you disqualified, but arrested by the Legion (unless otherwise, specifically stated by the legion or higher authorities themselves.) That said, do not enter the contest feeling your life is not at risk; this is very dangerous.
      • Both invoking the arcane and divine to the ends of spell-like effects are forbidden. This is a test of swordsmanship, not piety or arcane knowledge, after all!
        • This does not include the supernatural gifts of the divine, such as the ones paladins are (in)famous for.

      • Read the rules of equipment; your own items are not allowed! Only the items of your sponsor! If you produce any consumable, or use an item that was not provided by the sponsor and properly screened, then you will be disqualified.

Rules are subject to change, but any change will be presented at least a tenday before the tournament, with reasonable time for champions and sponsors to reconsider.

      The Rewards!

So what is in it for you, other than the fame and glory of being the very best swordsman in Sundren? Stags, of course! And perhaps a great deal of other things! Negotiate with your sponsor, to see how they will reward you for advertising their wares successfully, especially if you place high in the winners! On top of that, the champion will be given a significant share of the entry fees acquired.

      So how do I apply?
Easy! Submit a letter (PM The Butcher, or send a correspondence) to the Second Wind Inn's barkeep, titled "Swordsman Tournament!" You may provide any queries that might be left unanswered, if you leave a return address as well!
