This morning, a loud but enjoyable man of the Corps de Grace Militia by name of Harken Vell failed to show up for his morning duty. Two of his friends arrived at his home laughing and joking that the man likely had too many drinks at the Rusty Tankard and was sleeping off the effects.
They knocked on the door repeatedly but no one answered which struck the two are very strange since, though Harken may be sleeping off a drunken revelry, his wife was ever an early riser and should have been awake by the time they had arrived.
In a sense of rising concern, the two Militia soldiers battered down the door and entered the modest home to find a scene of utter horror. In the living room, Harken's shaggy dog was found stabbed to death. In the bedroom, a bloody scene awaited them: Harken's beautiful wife lie askew on the bed, her throat slit open, the sheets drenched in her blood. Harken lie upon the floor in a similar state, two puncture wounds in his chest and a similar cut across his throat, his position suggesting that he put up a small struggle before being felled.
The house was at least partially ransacked, though details are sketchy at this time, and rumors run rampant as to who could have committed this atrocious crime. A memorial service will be held for poor Harken and his beloved family.
