  • Talk of the Morninglord in Sestra

Rumors abound that a shining paladin of the Morninglord Lathander has been appearing in the dreams of the townsfolk and farmers of Sestra and its outlying farmsteads for the past few nights.

These dreams speak of the Angel, the Herald, that preaches of the glory of the Morninglord, and the coming of His Chosen to bring His Holy Light to banish the darkness.

Feelings are mixed at this time. Some are intrigued by the words of the Herald and the call of the Morninglord, while others are nervous or even outraged at being preached to in their dreams.

The following of Chauntea is concerned over this sudden change in the faith of some of the people of the town, as the Earth Mother has ever been the primary source of the peoples supplication in Sestra.

The Paladin of Lathander, Angelise Bryont, spreads the word at the tavern and about town that any experiencing the dreams, or curious about their meaning, should come see her at the headquarters of the Corps de Grace.

Many commoners simply assume this talk of morning glory is Cirion bragging.

        More Rumors of the Morninglord

Talk of the Morninglord Lathander spreads like wildfire amongst the community of Sestra. Most recently one of the faithful of Lathander raised the dead to life and saved a dwarf of the Skullcleavers from death.

Rumors now persist that the faithful of the Morninglord are clamoring for a Temple and are seeking donations and the aid of merchant factions, such as the Exigo, to see this done.

The numbers of the faithful swell to nearly double since the demonstrated miracle of the raising of the dwarf.

Through it all, praises are sung of Lathander, his Herald the Angel, and his coming Chosen.

Word about Sestra is that the Skullcleavers have been asking around town about their comrade.

            The Cult Dispersed! Demons attack!

Things in Sestra reached a boiling point yesterday when the newly formed Cult of Lathander seized control of the Temple of Lliira and forcibly evicted its resident High Priestess Shiana Lansby.

Captain of the Corps de Grace, along with several others entered the Temple and somehow managed to diffuse this situation.

Shortly thereafter, an unnatural storm struck the town and demonic women fell from the sky to attack the populace. A large group of heroes fought back and defeated these foes, but now confusion reigns in Sestra.

The cult is disbanded for now, many of its followers unsure of their faith in Lathander and what this attack really means for them.

despite the wrong done to her temple Evananda walks the city of Sestra tending the wounded with a smile and comforting hug, a few words of parse for Lliira are also forthcoming as she talks with the disbanded cult members in the hopes that they return to there true faith, or Lliira's.

"Typical..." He the gray haired man thinks to himself, sitting against the wall of a Sestarian building. His dress and appearance would make him hard to tell apart from the vagrants who usually sun themselves on the streets as they beg for alms, but beggers usually don't have Greatswords sitting across their laps. He runs a whetstone along the beaten old blade as he watches Evananda assist those less fortunate. His single eyebrow bends in a U as he frowns at the thought of how the Lathandarian cult is intergrating itself.

...Wrong, wrong wrong wrong. The whole thing about it is wrong... his thoughts trail on as his ire for the morninglords followers raises, showing only in the tempo of his blade sharpening. ...They should be driven out. I sh-... His thoughts are abruptly distracted as his quick sharpening had him lurch forward, causing the rosy disk that hangs around his neck to fall out to flap against his arm. He freezes in shock as he regards the holy symbol for a moment and the lines of frustration on his face slacken for a moment. NO!!! He shouts as he stands up quickly, causing the sword to fall on the ground and making the two nearest homeless to shy away from his outburst and slink out of his sight.

He picks up his greatsword... Yes! He frowns in concentration. Take them all down, starting with her He looks to Evenanda and violently throws himself in the opposite direction. No I won't! Get away from me! He yells out and forces himself away from the area as if under a great struggle. Shamus takes his leave from Sestra, one shaky step at a time. Sword in hand he looks on to Virdale and thinks that the solitude and the slaying of Humanoids should sate the damnable urges for the time being. He tucks away the holy symbol back under his vest, caressing it as he does, hoping as always if he has the strength to carry on.

Back near the alley, the two Vagrants move back to their spot watching the odd man depart, the bearded one looks to the other. Dat, d'ere Farrel is why I don'ts do the poweder dem Tayans sells. Drives ye nuts I hearded He says as he picks up his discarded alms bowl.

I knew it was a false cult. Nothing says false better than Morning" Lord and Dreams in the same sentence. Day dreams or visions I would have given credence too. I knew Vellin and I missed an opportunity to sell tar and feathers to the more hot headed of the other religions!

Angelise Bryont, seeming a bit more cheerful and chipper after the Lliiran temple fiasco, simply reminds everyone that any questions on the matter will be answered to the best of her ability at the Corps de Grace Headquarters. She has a tendency to especially suggest this to those confused members of the cult.

A Blackwood mercenary is seen entering a local tavern of Sestra in the morning.

The Blackwood mercenary orders a drink and begins to speak to some commoners, "I always knew there was something fishy about those Laughanderites. Sadly this could have all been prevented if they would have listened to me. Heck, even that "Angel" girl could have prevented this if she would have just told them that she was not the herald... or that the priestess was lying. Well, if there's anyone to be blamed here it's probably her for letting this happen."

A commoner asks, "Hey! Weren't you the guy who brought in the Dwarf for that priestess to raise from the dead, making everyone believe it was a miracle?"

The Blackwood mercenary quickly pays his tab and leaves the tavern mentioning something about "it's getting late".

Rumors of the Cult of the Morninglord are finally beginning to quiet down. The cult is well and truly disbanded and many of its members are returning to their former lives and former faith in Chauntea.

Some, however, yet retain their faith in Lathander, and can occasionally been seen traveling about the environs of Sestra, speaking praise of their new faith and of their spiritual leader in this community, the so-called "Angel."

The dreams that sparked this initial situation have all but ceased and sleep once again comes easy to this normally quiet, sea-side community.
