  • Mossclaw Meeting?

Word has gone around from the Red Blades of a report that was handed into them from a group of adventurers returning from the Shannaran hills. They had claimed to have encountered worgs, one of which was said to have carried a missive for the Chief of the Goblins there. The message was said to have been an invitation to a meeting of sorts with other chiefs that was to take place at Turkah Fort during the next full moon.

This has added confirmation to rumors of humanoid activities reported from the inner reaches of Virdale which were beyond the norm... If it is true, it seems there will be one less chief attending the meeting since the missive was intercepted.

((Those of you hearing/reading this rumor can roll a Knowledge/local DC 16, or Int check DC 20 to see if your character would know of Fort Turkah. Those that succeed would know that that is what the Gnolls call their fort within the Mossclaw Meet.))

As Ariel listens to the tale of worgs, she quickly decides to inform the other Blades. Plans must be made to interject upon this meeting and find out what the gnolls and goblins are planning, or at the very least end their meeting quickly.

Walking off to the city to stop by the Blades HQ where she intends to inform Vaer Vitori of this news and ask his advice. The Blades must make a show of force here and Vaers wisdom is most welcome.

Word has it that one of the Red blades pages had done some research on the rumors and found that such occurrences while rare, are not unique. It was found to have been recorded before, the latest of these 'Summits' between chiefs took place only 3 years ago, although the previously mentioned meetings show that they usually took place every 12-7 years. It seems that the ordeal is more or less a rekindling or restructuring of alliances, treaties, etc... Reports of such previous events describe it as a festive but malevolent atmosphere within their borders. Such festivities take place some time before the actual meeting of the four chiefs, and during those days the woods are alive with couriers and emissaries of the various tribes, as well as hunting parties gathering food for the 'celebrations'. Food it seems also shows that people are not left off of the menu, and wandering too deep in the forest is not recommended during such times.

The guards at the Virdale Border have doubled their shifts and are wary at nightfall, when distant drumbeats and other sounds play continuously until the sun rises. Reports of missing woodsmen and other travellers are already coming in.

Was the anticipation of this gathering of Humanoids overrated? Talk throughout the taverns seem to go in that direction, although the additional garrison at the Virdale border seemed to show that they weren't taking any chances. Tales from travellers say that the mossclaw bunch were stirred up, but on the eventful nights wher the moon was full, not a sound was heard within the forest.

A few brave adventurers, woodsmen, and Druids claim to have snuck in during the three day period of the full moon, and found the Mossclaws territory to be virtually empty! As if they all vanished. Little was done to regain the deeper part of the forest due to their abscence, and by the time the three day period was over, the humanoids had somehow returned to their homesteads.

Talk though still circulates that they almost seem a little more organized now, and the Chiefs are now uncharacteristically patrolling more within their borders.

The border guard looked curiously at the little halfling, her skin painted, appearance dishevelled, but oddly cheery and skipping around the border camp.

"You there, miss!" said the guard. "What are you doing?"

"I'm a spy!" called the Hin as she danced around him.

            "A Spy?"

            "Oh! Indeed!"

            "who are you spying on?"

            "Oh! The Goblins of course!"

            "Dressed like that?"

"Its my disguise! I'm a Goblin too! Grrr! RAWR!" said the Hin as she pulled a homemade scarey mask over her face.

"Cute. Here take these sweets little girl." Chuckled the guard, handing her honied apples and sticky pastries. "Now go back to town before you get your self killed!"

"Fine.... no tricks on the Goblins then!" The cheery little Hin said as she skipped down the path eating the sugary treats.
Butch: "You know, when I was a kid, I always thought I was gonna grow up to be a hero."
Sundance: "Well it's to late now."

            Toons:
            Mittens Whitepaw (Feral Druid),
            Rose Thimblefoot (Simple Seamstress),
            Melody Mourningsoul (Cursed Bard)
Katalina Zephyr (Guardian of the Grave)
