  • Police Brutality!

Rumours spread of the Captain of the militia in Sestra beating up an innocent civilian, minding his own business.

A man has been heading from tavern to tavern, showing his missing tooth and blackened eye after the aforementioned captain of the Corsairs walked up to him and knocked the crap outta him without so much as a warning.

The man admits he was passing by and happened to see a brutal crime scene, but amongst a crowd of others he was chosen to receive the captain's dainty punch.

The man has also been known to say, "It was the rock I hit on my way down that knocked out the tooth and the blackened eye. Otherwise, I think the Corsairs need a captain who is a little less pretty, and a little better of a fighter."
    Characters:
Peridan Twilight, one-eyed dog of the Legion, deceased.
Daniel Nobody, adventurer and part time problem solver.

    [DM] Poltergeist :
If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge an intermediate deity's unbridled fury.

Dmytri Quartz hears the rumor and responds "That's pure rubbish! That man was disturbing an active criminal investigation; he refused the captains direct orders to leave the scene, and was in general a complete nuisance. He wouldn't shut up! He should have been arrested if you want my opinion! Disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, failure to follow orders from local authorities, take your pick! He had no respect for the local authorities! Not! One! Bit! He certainly had fair warning and he fell *snaps* in one punch!"

Sitting at the bar in one of these taverns Trannt over-hears someone discussing these events. He simply smiles and mutters to himself, "He should've taken the ale I offered him and just kept quiet..."

Rastellia hears the rumor and ponders for just half a second before musing and shaking her head with a smirk. "I don't know a lot about the situation. I wasn't there. But I think it's fair to say, number one, any of us would be pretty angry if that happened to them; number two, that the Captain acted stupidly in punching somebody when that person was just wanting to see what was going on."

A horrific scene could be seen not far from the steps towards the Exarch Keep of Sestra. Several people were found brutally murdered, - marked by several piercings wounds, as well they seem to have been burned. A lead ranking members of the Corsair militia has sent a few of the militiamen to watch over the area, while also asking the local clergy of Ilmater and Kelemvor for assistance concerning murders.

Though later that evening, when Cirion is enjoying his drink at the tavern in Sestra, he looks over as he hears bits and pieces of the new rumors circulating about himself. He turns to face those speaking of him and begins to explain himself:

"Was this spread by a man with the scraggly beard and foul disposition? I'll admit I had been pushed to force him away from a murder scene, though..." he quickly inputs the last word. "...it was only because of his decision to obstruct justice - tampering with evidence. And despite how I asked several times for the people to back up, which many kindly did, he ignored me words and continued to remain in place. Even worse, he decided it was best to impede an investigation."

Cirion lets loose a long drawn-out sigh. "Worst part about this, I believe this crime is a setup to frame a man I've known for several months." With that last statement Cirion rises from his seat with a hint of unhappiness over his features. He then proceeds to give several coins to the nearby people listening to him. "Here, my thanks for taking the time to listen to me. Enjoy your meals..." he says before finally departing the tavern with a mood still dragging him down.

Recalling the days of working with the Triumvirate and against the Black Hand and the Black Bard Elric himself, Osclow seems almost pleased to be on a battlefield of rumors and propaganda than blades and blood. Now offering his services and hundreds of disguises to the Corsairs, Osclow is relatively quick to get to work.

"I heard the man at the scene was drunk and whispered some rather crude slurs about the Rose Knight's mother." says a young man red of hair, green of eyes, and dressed in simple peasant clothing.

"Did the Corsair Captain go too far? Maybe a little. But, the idiot would not move and was getting in the way of a MURDER investigation for crying out loud! What was he supposed to do? He asked him to move several times and I sure as hell want whatever psycho that is running around caught." says an old man with a silver gray beard, black hood, and walking with the assistance of a cane.

"If you ask me, the fact that he was so obtrusive of the investigation is supicious." says a rather rotund gentleman, bald and claiming to be a merchant delivering goods from Sundren City.

Rose Thimblefoot is busy at her seamstress table when she overhears some of the rumours discussed between a few customers.

                "Wow!" she thinks to herself.

"I am not sure what to think! Either the militia are a bunch of bullies abusing their power to beat ordinary citizens; or they're a bunch of limp wristed sissy boys getting into slap fights with each other. Either way, I know that they haven't come to my aid to make things safer for this average citizen."
Butch: "You know, when I was a kid, I always thought I was gonna grow up to be a hero."
Sundance: "Well it's to late now."
