  • To Sundren Jail

*marked with the Legion's seal, a simple envelope in somewhat rushed handwriting is delivered to the Sundren Jail. To one sensitive to such things, there seems to be a great deal of 'anger' in the writing.*

    Greetings Warden,

I know this letter is not the usual form you are used to seeing when dealing with Legion business. I will be honest with you, this was done in somewhat of a rush. Please bear with me.

I am Osclow Wiltenholm, private to the Sundren Legion and I wish to question you personally about a recent prisoner, one I myself brought in. I speak of prisoner #235, known simply as Alcander with no last name given. The reason why no last name was given was because there was not even enough time to question for such. Not even 24 hours after I had brought the prisoner in, before his prepared meal for that day had even gotten a chance to be cooked, he is seen roaming freely within the Exigo Trade Post just south of Sundren City, where a mysterious entity struck him down.

I made it rather clear in my report that this individual was to be kept under tight security and was an admitted member of the Black Hand. Yet, you managed to lose him in less than a day to an obvious ploy of the Black Hand itself.

I request the name of the guard or guards that released Alcander, as well as any that were on duty that day from early morning to late afternoon. Your cooperation would be most appreciated.

A response is brought to Osclow directly by the man who appears to have written it, a dirty and rather portly gentleman, who as you begin to read you realise is not entirely describable as "literate".

I jest done me job. I were telled ter let im go if an wen e shutted up an I done got a order ta them words. I jes woches them prizznas I dun diside wen they warks free. I (there are several attempts to spell "object" all scribbled out) dun like peeple fretnin me fer dooin me job.

Within the Oghma Temple the bard attempts to 'decipher' the letter. Tilting it at various angles with wide unbelieving eyes and various sounds of irritation he finally makes his way toward the end.

"I .. abjik.. objit... objess. What in the hells is this word? Some of these symbols do not even look like actual letters."

"I think it's 'object' he's trying to spell" Fenton points out, tapping the letter with a finger. "My god.. isn't writing this bad like a sin to you people or something?"

The bard merely sighs and shakes his head in return. "I am not done yet. I am going to get to the bottom of this."

"Yeah, illiteracy is just a terrible thing."

      "Shut up Fenton."
