Hano slides a copy of his report to the Triumvirate under Sehron's door to his room in the Sundren Comfort. He wanted him to look over the report and sign it as true or correct him should he had made any mistakes working through the night.
"I, Hano Fetten, Paladin of Torm on Kythorn 2, 1372 - The Year of the Wild Magic write the details of my endeavors on the very same night they occurred. The events that will be described took place deep within the Spittlefist Caves within Shahara Hills - South from the city of Sundren. More specifically an alter in the caves known to be used by The Black Hand to perform rituals and practice other miscellaneous dark magics.
An ally of the Triumvirate, Master Elf Sehron Dy'ner, and myself were informed of a ritual taking place a few days prior its happening by none other than Tifton Holyguard, Fallen Brother of Helm. I will admit the risk I took when considering his words as truth, given his well known affiliation with The Black Hand and furthermore the Ill'Koresh.
However, with that said, I trusted my heart - He was the man that freed me against The Black Hand's will when I was under their capture and he has paid dearly for his betrayal. I thereby deemed neglecting his information and request a sin in itself considering the circumstances and what was at stake.
The circumstances were as follows: Alyrian, an elf and friend of many adventurers in Sundren as well as Sister Tamryn came under the influence of a Demon known as Phaedriel. Phaedriel had possessed his body and was using it as a vessel to carry out her will - Whether or not it was against or for the will of Alyrian is still up for question. With even more reasons that are undefined Phaedriel agreed with Tifton to undergo a ritual that would separate her from the elf Alyrian.
Tifton planned the ritual days in advanced and sought the aid of Sehron Dy'ner and myself to make sure the Demon was under control after the ritual. It is known to us now that the Demon Phaedriel had an alliance with the Black Hand and by Tifton betraying her, he betrayed The Black Hand for a second time.
Regardless of the fact I had no intentions on allying myself with Tifton, but took the opportunity he had given us in hopes of purging the Demon Phaedriel. I had taken much consideration and prayed on the matter for the following days. With The True's guidance and wisdom, I believe this was the best course of action. To both slay the demon and assure that Alyrian would not be harmed in the process. I had hesitated many times before when I faced her in the past, worried that while she was using him as a vessel, that it might have killed Alyrian as well if I slew her, so I believe I was just in taking advantage of Tifton's plans.
When the time came for the ritual to take place Sehron Dy'ner and myself were more than prepared to do what was needed to be done in the name of The True and to honor Tyr's judgment. Sehron tracked down their location described in the opening of this report. I believe Tifton chose this location so he would be both free of suspicion and remain distant enough to elude the Black Hand from his second betrayal by aiding us.
Entering the shrine or alter after the ritual was complete I took my sword in hand and was prepared to strike down the Demon. Sehron Dy'ner was at my side with his blades as well. Before us were five Clerics of Bane, Alyrian, Phaedriel, and Tifton. Phaedriel quickly took the defensive by grabbing the weakened body of Alyrian and threatening to kill him should we make another move. We did not - I would not give a life to take another.
Tifton persuaded Phaedriel to let go of Alyrian and let him escort her out of the caves under his protection, but only if she did not harm Alyrian. When the situation had changed to this, we were still helpless to stop her from leaving... With her under the protection of Tifton we would all have been killed trying to stop her - I make no mistake about that. Instead I went to the side of Alyrian trying to aid him to his feet.
The True smiled upon us by letting the Demon's treacherous ways become her undoing. She betrayed her word and attacked Alyrian, Sehron, and myself with magics once the distance was safe enough for her. I wrapped my body around Alyrian in hopes of warding him against the magics and managed to save him. Sehron Dy'ner and myself were able to withstand most of the damage done.
With the betrayal of her words and her assault on us battle broke out within the Alter. Phaedriel and the five Banites were slain in the battle and all remain there except for one body - A body Tifton took with him as he left shortly after the battle.
After blessing the room and the bodies to the best of my abilities we escorted Alyrian out of the caves and from the Shahara Hills. He did not wish to keep our company though and insisted on us leaving his side. As his first request as a man now free from the influence of a demon, I agreed. He claimed he had much to think about and needed to do so in silence, which, I do not doubt one need such given his delicate position.
I have taken great measures to make sure that I am well informed of his actions and movements since his departure from the Hills. Most of this information given is thanks to a friend of mine who wishes to remain anonymous. I ask that we all pray for his recovery and that he might walk the path of righteousness now."
