  • Another letter to the Druids

Again I greet you, brothers and sisters with little good news.

I have been toiling every day to reverse the blight in the Viridale. As you know I've collected many samples for testing. It seems to be much stronger than I anticipated, and so it may take a good while longer to deal with. Talona's work will be blunted, however.

I have also encountered a group of adventurers who claim to have a cure for the blight. As many of you were present in the grove for this encounter, you know how that went. For those that were not, this brash, disrespectful group apparently claimed this vial was given to another by the fallen paladin, and refused to let me examine it.

They foolishly used some of this "cure" to "heal" a bear in the woods with apparent success. I have not been able to find this bear, but it must be found if these foolish people will not let us examine their "cure". I worry that it may be carrying a worse plague now, assuming they are not part of the current plot to spread panic and discontent in the city.

On a different note, I spied more people at the crossroads last night, and was forced to perform the Thorncall. That is the only good news, for it could have been one of you performing it in my stead.

However, before that, I recall two people who seemed to be leaders of their respective groups. A halfling and a human, the same human I've seen before with the undead and fiends. I watched them for a while before I was spotted, I think. I thought it was an ambush, as many roguish men appeared from the shadows around the human. But the halfling and human started talking in hushed tones, so I do not believe it was that. What their meeting was about I don't know, or perhaps don't remember. It went black and I found myself bloody and in a ditch, but the group was still there. So after I healed myself, I called on Silvanus, performed the Thorncall and left them to find their way out of the thorns.

Perhaps I owe Mask more offerings, considering how often I am spotted in the shadows.

In any case, I believe it was self evident there were dark dealings going on, with the Mistress of the Night the only witness besides myself. That I was attacked speaks of their skill and their violent tendencies. I propose we do all that we can to force them back into the city and towns, to keep them away from despoiling nature, especially at the crossroads. They have no chance against us in the forests. And their willingness to shed my blood proves they have no right to walk in them either.

    May Silvanus guide us,
    Serena Taintedblood
