To the Esteemed Sir Elric:
It has come to my attention that you have agreed to represent the betrayer and Talassan Kemnebi in his trial. I must say many were surprised that you would make such a decision, and I write this letter to you on the off chance that perhaps you do not really understand the gravity of Kemnebi's crimes, or have perhaps been swayed falsely by his manipulative tongue.
Kemnebi is no innocent victim. His crimes have grown innumerable and as yet unpunished during these dark times. I have seen him with the dread knight Landaren; I mistakenly happened upon them, and they almost killed me. When I confronted him about it later, he claimed he was confused in the heat of battle. Convincing, isn't he?
Regarding his crimes against Tifton, the true victim in all this, it was he who delivered the sabotaged magic items that resulted in the dark curse that was placed on the holy knight. Coincidence? That he should then be charged with corrupting the ritual that was supposed to remove the curse?
At least five witnesses were present, all of whom are skilled with magicks, including myself. We all felt the dark aura that Kemnebi projected forth during the ritual, all felt the ritual go awry, all saw the result: Tifton lose his last breath ... and Kemnebi, still protesting his innocence.
To defend this man, is to stand against the Church of Helm, to dismiss the words of all those paladins, priests, and mages as lies, to stand blindly loyal to a man who is an admitted follower of Talos, Lord of Destruction.
To side with Kemnebi is to side with Landaren and his masters ... it is only they who have benefitted this day.
I hope you know what you're doing.
Signed, Alyrian Eldeas
