((This brief volume found in shipment of mostly useless books is a badly written and obviously biased record of Mages of the Sea of Fallen Stars. The book spends the majority of it's time impugning various mages guilds at major cities along the whole of the southern coast, with particular attention to their mistreatment and mismanagement of apprentices. One particular passage catches your eye
)
Dworkin the Mad: Notorious Archmage formerly accepting numerous apprentices inside a bizzare structure known as the 'Twisted House' in Westgate for the unending series of additions, modifications, renovations, demolitions and rumored extraplanar gates which comprise its construction. Extremely ugly. Very high level of fatalities amongst apprentices (local sources place the number of surviving graduates at less than a dozen at the time of Dworkins departure), survival rate is thought to be less than one in ten by local sources. Dworkin is/was (?) a powerful wizard (generalist, supposedly favored planar magic, perhaps conj spec? Check old rumors) Earned the name 'the Mad' from Westgate society over variety of strange behaviors (talking to himself, extreme temper, disregard for social niceties and suspected Diabolism, Necromancy and by some accounts Apostasy) . In DR 1370 (Uktar 29th) at least 2 of Dworkins apprentices were seen Leaving the city. The Twisted house has apparently sealed all entrances and exits. So far any attempt to penetrate the house has resulted in either the disappearance or death of any persons involved. Corpses are usually found outside the house or in the doorways to the antechambers. Cause of death varies widely. No direct witnesses have yet survived to tell what became of them in the house. The locals are content to now ignore it, and pretend the place doesn't even exist (had to pay 2 gold, 4 silver and 5 copper pieces for information from local thieves, mark in expenses). Local mages claim divining magic can not locate Dworkin and it is hypothesized that he has migrated off-plane, most likely to the hells.
