A formal report is left on Sergeant Pyke's desk in Daniel's distinctive style of writing. He seems tired when he wrote it, causing it to be slightly less legible than most of his writing, but it's still easy on the eyes overall:
'Sir,
I've uncovered some information that may be important as to understanding, at the very least, the reason why Bane's followers would be flocking to this land and congregating armies. There seems to be two primary motivations that I discovered in the foothills. It was inside a goblin camp that a cleric of Bane approached me, though not on a personal level. Rather I was attempting to reason with a woman wearing a militia uniform illegally, though with little success. The events are detailed in another report. In the end the Banite would in fact speak to me and the others, though my compatriots, including the one wearing the uniform, took a while to learn they'd have little luck attacking the Banite as he was a powerful clergyman.
At some point along the line a cleric of Cyric appeared after we had already aggravated the Banite. I was overjoyed for the time as I was hoping the two could cancel each other out and at least one of them could be saved from the fray and perhaps salvaged from their ways. Sadly my compatriots, or rather the people around at the time, decided to kill the Cyricist, who died in a bloody manner. At that point the Banite was praying and I found myself trying to get Syl to leave. Syl refused to comply and the Banite's body ripped apart to reveal the body of a demon.
I assessed the situation and found it worthless to attack the creature as it would likely be too powerful, even if all of the adventurers there had worked together to slay it. Despite this the group refused to flee but were soon stricken in panic due to the sheer power of the beast. I had tried reasoning with the cleric when he had been in a human coil and managed to gain some information off him, thus I did the same to the horned creature. As a note, the creature was bigger than I, with wings I believe, covered in bat-like skin. Regardless, I managed to mostly talk my way out of the situation.
Thankfully, I headed out and down the road to return to the Port and inform you, Sergeant Pyke, that the Banite had made various references to being here to counter Helm's influence. It seems partially Bane's influence has spread here due to Helm's influence. However, on our way to the Port a group of Cyricists approached us and soon concluded that we had some part to play in the demise of the Cryicist who had been in the goblin camp. The group of outlaws had ran off somewhere along the line and Syl, myself, and a random adventurer found ourselves fighting the group, though they posed little challenge as they found little trust in each other. Before they died, however, they revealed that Bane is likely also in the region to counter Cyric's influence. It would make sense as I'd expect Cyricists to be in a relatively remote region that's fairly easy to access. Despite this I wish Syl and the outlaws had not attacked the Cyricists as they may be evil, though having them not as a total enemy but as somewhat of an uncontrollable ally against the Banites would be good.
