  • Militia Report: Orc Attack

A formal report is left on Sergeant Pyke's desk in Daniel's distinctive style of writing. He seems tired when he wrote it, causing it to be slightly less legible than most of his writing, but it's still easy on the eyes overall:

    'Sir,

There was an attack on the town during the night that caused heavy losses in the militia. The attack on town was preceded by another report I intend to hand in about a strange series of illusion that have been creating non-physical copies of adventurous citizens. Though I have half a mind to think that there may have been relation, that is not my conclusion to draw. Suffice to say, I was on duty at the time at the gate.

A horn was heard from outside the gate, likely far off, though it was difficult for me to tell. The gates were closed as according to orders from the active sergeant on gate duty at the time. During that time the militia assembled and prepared for the attack. The adventurers present at the time prepared as well. Orcs and ogres began assaulting the gate, mostly with their bodies. The gates eventually fell.

The battle, as has been written, caused heavy losses for the militia. In-between attacks the wounded were dragged from the battlefield as far as they could be before the next wave struck. Thankfully the attacks were repelled and a horn signified a retreat, though it had been sounding each time a new wave of orcs and ogres struck. By the reckoning of a bowman after the attack, the gate will take three days to fix. I suggest extra guardsmen during that time.

After the attack Recruiter Patrick assigned me to active gate duty and headed out with a dozen or so men to scout. Later he returned and reported the retreat was complete and total. I continued on my gate duty until a series of events took place involving certain troublemakers. Such events will be detailed in a seperate report.

    Signed,
    Recruit Reyer'
